Any body have a good recommendation in that area? I'm picking up a friend from the Bart and was curious if there are any cool spots nearby? Otherwise I'll head back to coulterville to place I know.

Yes... Anthony Chabot between there and Castro Valley. Take the Redwood Road exit off 580 in CV and drive up into the hills.

I don't know of any in the Dublin/Pleasanton area specifically. These are really the only two in the area.

Lake Delle Valle, in Livermore. About 15-20 miles east/southeast of the Dublin Bart Station.

And then as noted, Anthony Chabot in Castro Valley. About the same distance away as Del Valle, but the opposite direction, West of Dublin. Depending on where you are coming from, there is a Castro Valley Bart station close by.

Thanks guys. May just head back to the foothills. I'll keep those bookmarked for future camping days. I honestly didn't realize they actually have places like that near dublin.

Lake del Valle was pretty nice actually. Really cold that night but better than the snow where I really wanted to go. We forgot alcohol and didn't realize that the gate to enter closes at 10 so we had to miss out on a few drinks since we couldnt leave and return. Decent places to hike around the lake the next day. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Del Valle is nice, glad you enjoyed! Chabot is far more remote and feels more like camping to me, yet hookups, etc are as good as I've found anywhere. Both are great campgrounds.

I will be heading to chabot next month to test the gun range with a couple of friends and possibly camp too. Always interested in finding new places to camp that are easy to get to. Most of my friends don't have access to a 4x4 so easy roads are great for when they want to come.
