AW4 - converting speedo cable to VSS?

Does anyone know, or has anyone found a way to take the manual speedo cable AW4 and plug in a VSS for use in an OBD1 system, rather than the RENIX system it came with???

Remove the speedo gear and install the sensor in its place. It is easy to do.

I got the same Question but a different trans. What it would take make the speedo work having swaping in the sensor?

So does that mean that the opening in the trans housing is the same diameter in the 1990 and early speedo cables models as in the 91 and up VSS models? - I don't know this, since I don't have a 91 and up AW4 trans

I guess the question I have not the same. Sorry not trying steal your thread but the holes are the same. I got an 93 vss in an 88 xcase.

My question is my 88 cherokee is speedo cable and I need to convert the dash to vss. The wiring is there from my v8 swap but it just need to get a newer dash and run the wires to it right?
