best i can tell, shorter driveshafts shouldent be too much of an issue in a non lifted dd. or one that isnt lifted much?

i remember somewhere hearing that you have to have around 3 inches of lift just to get a v8 in most xjs because of the oil pan clearence
 
got the lift covered (3.5" RE). I just need to start figuring out where I can get a a v8 drivetrain from. Anyone know which vehicles I can look to for the engine and tranny?

I'm looking at either the TH400 or the TH700R4. Looks like those two are the best fit for a 4x4 daily driver, auto
