I converted my 2wd to 4wd and I can not get the tranmission to shift. The transmission is rebuilt. The fluids are clean and the magnets are clean. We used the speed sensor and gear from the 2wd in the center adapter. Can anyone help?

Year of the donor transmission and recipient Cherokee? There are some compatibility issues with the output shaft speed sensor if you cross 1998. Shifting is controlled by the speed sensor in the back of the trans, not the speed sensor in the xfer case. It's staying in 1st gear in (D), or you have to shift manually with the shifter? Throttlebody->trans cable attached and adjusted correctly, fluid level good, etc.

Okay so I know it's been a long time, but I ended up selling this jeep and bought it back yesterday. The parts jeep was a 91. When I put it in drive it doesn't shift past 1st gear.

If you pull the fuse or unplug the trans computer, can you shift manually with the shifter? If not, then you're looking at a mechanical problem. If it does then it's electrical.

Three possibilities here.
1. TPS is bad and telling the trans computer it's floored. This is easily tested with a meter. I would think you would have seen this prior to the swap.
2. The rear output speed sensor isn't working and the trans computer thinks you're not moving. The sensor itself should be the same between 2wd and 4wd. Not sure what you mean by the gear? You're talking about the VSS speed sensor?
3. Bad solenoid #2 solenoid or a bad rebuild.
