Spraying carb cleaner in '89 TB = interesting response

thought... What's your fuel pressure looking like - and is it controlling properly with the VACUUM portion of the regulator (when I leave the vacuum source for the regulator disconnected I get this exact response - idles well, but rich - crappy transition to higher RPM, then reasonable...

    Removing Factory Loctite

Welll -- a LOT more heat! try picking at the "paint" to see if you can discern what exactly it is, someone could'a used a filled epoxy (similar to Devcon F or JB Weld) to hod those fasteners - both will soften somewhat with heat though filled epoxies do take quite a little heat to get going -...

    Removing Factory Loctite

Most locktites will soften with heat (the specs for green, and 271 both indicate heating and handtools for removal) http://www.loctiteproducts.com/products/subcategory.asp?CatID=10&SubID=48 ... Unless your "grayish paint" is a weld!

    Front axle shift fork????

Cast iron fork part numbers: Dana #41553 or Mopar #4137727 Fork clips/wear pads part numbers: Dana #621059 or Mopar #4137731 What's breaking? (the fork or where it fits on the actuator shaft) - The fork can 'float' a considerable amount (up and down" and the disconnect collar can slide in...

    leaking fuel injectors,i think?

I pulled a set off of a 'stang that was going larger (they're still on the Stang's-rail); listed on ILJ for $65 - if you're interested. http://www.ilovejeeps.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13236

try to get the key into the hole at 2%

Got it on the 4th click -- just came back with the same stuff (I expected a message about a commercial pilot school or something). Test was kinda unfair in that you couldn't close the "bad eye" and the key hole didn't have the nice ChryCo DUI/DT-shakes guides...! Interesting work!

Are cutting torches all the same? Or are they all URF quality?

I was an Airco fan (till they went away...) -- like cutting with a sledge hammer - yu could beat the parts apart - have several with the "side-handed" bend in em. All the new stuff here is Smith ; they seem to handle well and be much lighter than the Aircos... Still waiting for one to fail...

    Paging Renix gearheads!

After all that... ... it'd be very easy to watch the O2 sensor data, the pulse duration on an injector, data from the TPS, MAP, CTS, IATS with very simple hardware (buffered) - a small PIC could easily sequence through those items and display real-time running parameters based on mapped...

    Paging Renix gearheads!

The code and stuff should be able to be had from Atica since they bought the Renix venture in 1986 - it helps that they specialize in auto diagnostic electronics...! I have a few of the RenixII ECUs sitting around - mostly from other projects and while you can easily get them to "idle" on the...

    Vacuum lines

So you've got a switchable vacuum leak under your vehicle near the passenger's side UCA body mount? sounds fun --- there is a certain thrust element to the collar that will cause the fork to slide enough to diengage... something to look at. For my $$, replace the hoses (splicing has a couple...

    Powering A PA speaker?

If it's their attenuating connector (RS 274-378) then it should do it for ya (it'll take the speaker-level drive from your CB's PA outout and lower it to a line-level drive for the amp... (kinda Rube Goldberg, but it'll do)

    87 XJ 4.0 Hesitation problem

An injector cleaning could be the issue if you can confirm the pressure in the fuel rail (the regulator has a vacuum fitting to increase the pressure a few PSI for instances of rapid throtthe opening - intent is to provide a temporarily richer mixture while the ECU sorts things out... a weak...

    Powering A PA speaker?

Hey - give it a try (can't see/hear it from my garage!) Should be OK - if the amp has speaker level inputs ... ... all really depends on what amp - if the 200W is a peak value, a per-channel value and the rest of the specs etc....

    Some extra wires....

Yeah - the harness for the CPS had a TSB in like '89... You cut the existing wires and reroute a CPS replacement harness directly through the firewall to the ECU --- the ECU side of the mod was just to pull the existing pins from the ECU connector's harness and insert the pins already fitted...

    Powering A PA speaker?

Well if you're talking about the Whelen sa314 series - that's a 100W unit (good for 123dB at 10' though - damned loud!) So you could find a simple 'el-chepo' amp that could be bridged to to 100W with speaker-level inputs (like this one for $80) so you could run right off of the output of your...
