New thermostat and radiator cap. Cools better now, gauge stays right under the 210 mark while driving. Idle is right at 210 for a bit, after about 4 min it starts creeping back up. Fan shroud is toast now and i grabbed the temp sensor for the gauge not ecu... appears my fan clutch is locked up.
Yep the drivers side has a good size hole already and im sure I will find more as I go along.
Still looking for ideas to help the kids and wife get in easier. Don't want to put steps that will kill clearance.
Thats kinda what I was thinking. Looking into 1/4" flat bar as a stacked with a 1.5 square tube or 1.5 x 2" tube with 3 or 4 1" tube supports tieing into the subframe.
Here is what Im starting with.
96 XJ Country AW4 with NP231 Just shy of 195k on the engine. Poorly maintained, sent to shop for every issue. Found a receipt for $300 to replace the heater valve. Had it towed and everything. So far the running total is $800 purchase, a few hundred and some change...
Mainly street, but random trips into the fun stuff. No real rock crawling, max lift we be 3" if I even go that high.
Just dont want to replace my rockers ever again.
Anyone wanna voice an opinion, was looking at replacing my rocker panels.
Cost for OEM style replacements is not far from 2x6 rec tube or 3/16 x 8 flat bar.
Either would be well worth the additional frame strengthening.
I finally got under my carpet today, drivers side is toast. Entire rocker panel is gone on the passenger side... I see learning how to weld in my immediate future.
Not uncommon, and now you wont have to do the rounds at all the box stores. lol
Mine is getting sealed tomorrow. I just need to find a way to get to the crack in my exhaust manifold now... I know the quick steel stuff isnt permanent, but its a lot easier than a new manifold right now.
Dont know if anyone is interested in this stuff for full stock remodel. Head unit worked fine when I pulled it out. found all the control box and wiring for a disc changer, believe it is stock. Can get pics if someone is interested.
