I plan on that, for sure. I'd like to integrate lower-control arm brackets into that, as well. I want to stay light as possible but make sure I don't taco anything.
Should I do an exo-cage or cage in the car?
What's the best front-end setup for runnin'?
Deavers and big was shocks on the...
I took my XJ to the Glamorous Glamis sand dunes and how I have a fever... No, it's not Covid... I want to make my XJ better for goin' (kinda) fast.
Here's what's done right now (not much):
- SYE/HD driveshaft
- Brown Dogs
- Random ZJ replacement coils and 2 inch spacers
- OEM replacement...
Custom built driveshaft is the way to go but...
If you have the right combination a junk-yard XJ front shaft from an Auto+NP231 will work.
It'll probably need a rebuild and balanced which will put you 60-100% of the cost of a top-tier custom shaft.
The $200 AA kit is not "cheap" and barring...
I was thinking of doing a HnT for years on my 231 but when it came down to it, I realized doing the short shaft SYE makes a whole lot more sense. Especially since my seal started leaking after putting on new suspension.
I just did the Advance Adapters kit and it's a piece of cake once you get...
I asked about having a stock front XJ shaft rebuilt and balanced locally and was quoted $250-$280 by a few different shops.
To me unless you're just trying to get a DD on the road for a while, I think it's money well spent to get a beefy DS made.

Because the people I listen to said it was cleaner/better and allowed you to inspect the transfer case more thoroughly.
It wasn't too bad. If I ever have to do it again it'll be a much easier job after having to figure out all the tricks the hard way.
I will say that it may be easier to do...
Yep. Like you guys said I should have just counted on this from jump. I'm just debating whether I should have a local shop build me a driveline.
Do I need any additional parts to fit a stock front shaft to the yoke included with the advance adapters kit?

Thanks.
Thank you for the offer. I think I'm just going to order the advance adapters kit and have it overnighted. I need to get this thing back on the road.

I just put new springs and shocks on my budget-boosted 99' last night. I drove to work this morning and home this afternoon and I saw smoke coming from underneath. It was fluid from the transfer case dripping on the exhaust. The vibes weren't that bad but I guess that rear seal just couldn't...
Can't right now. I'm out $1000 for tires, springs, shocks, and misc parts right now and honestly I could afford to do it but i still might buy a new scope, binoculars, and I'll be burning a bunch of ammo getting ready for this hunt. I think I can live without the SYE until after Christmas...
I don't know why I would do that. My t-case and rear axle (ca. 99' np231+8.25") are the easiest to sye (especially h&t).
That's what I'm doing next. I just don't have time to track everything down before my hunt in Oct.
Does anyone know if running those Dorman HD springs with 1.5" lift...
Thanks for the adVice on the t-case drop. I was going to order the puck style.
It would be easy to do a hack&tap on my set-up and run a front drive-shaft but I just don't have time. I have a deer hunt end of Oct where I'm going to be driving deep in the high-desert so I need new tires and to...
Hey guys. I have a budget boosted (shackles and pucks) 99 XJ. I ordered new Dorman OEM HD leaf packs and Moog CC782 coils. I am going to get some take-off JK shocks and I ordered a 1" t-case drop. What else am I going to need, as I anticipate this is going to be a net lift of 3" over stock at...
It's funny how the location makes such a difference. You could get $7000 for that in Arizona. XJs sell for over retail BB here, it is nuts. Easy to find no rust beauties, though.
Coils or pucks, shackles or maybe some unused XJ leafs. I know I can get the Fat Bob kit for $80 but I just wanted to see if I could get something dirt cheap to get me by.
If anyone has a line on anything I would greatly appreciate it. I am about to spend $800 on tires so I really want a Super...
