over last few weeks put in new control arms track bar a bunch of stupid little things and replace tran pan gasket go to pull jeep out of garage now reverse and nuetral engine revs normal drive normal in gear ignition cuts under any kind of load....?

anyone think its possible to rebuild 88 xj 4.0 with out pulling motor it is lifted so clearing oil pan and having room to work is not an issue. just would like hone, new rings, rods and main bearings, just know it will be a nightmare trying to remove the engine when i did head gasket cyl walls...

my buddy has a 21 spline 242 in his xj that is pretty well fu!!ed up i have found a few 21 spline 231 transfer cases out of older 4cyl wranglers would this be a cheap and easy way out or just better off rebuilding it?
