98 XJ DD Project - Ignition Switch Question

If you go to rockauto.com and look up the ignition switch, they have a how to video for removing and installing a new switch. I have done two of them so far. No problem. Jerry

    95 4.0 starts then dies-sometimes

I"ve got a 95 also, 213000 miles and put about 400 miles a week on it. Yesterday replaced the ignition switch. Mine started when I would touch the key before actually shutting it off, it would die. If i pulled hard on the steering wheel the rpms would drop momentarily. Then it started with...

    rain and tapping noise.

Probably leaking plug wires or dist cap, most likey on the loom or where plug wires come close to each other or any metal part. You can usually spot it in the shade or dark. Try misting the cap & wires with water and see if you can make it happen again. This would sound like tapping and would be...

    Need a kill switch.

ORO makes a slick little kit, Automatic Disable/Enable System (ADE-II). It uses a magnetic switch wired into the ignition, injectors, fuel pump and automatic shut down relay. Hide the switch behind a plastic panel on the dash or console or a pilar. Turn the key and no start, pass the...

    Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz Goes the Flasher

If the flasher does not say specifically that it is for LED lights then it is not the correct flasher, it will be printed on the body of the flasher unit. Just because it is an electronic flasher does not mean it will work for LED's.

AC compressor to OBA compressor (question)

Depends how you have plumbed your tank. The inlet/outlet should not be on the bottom, pushing air into the tank is not a problem, unless it is frozen, but air leaving the tank will carry any water/oil or debris in the bottom of the tank, and that will cause problems. Air Bag lift

Yes, if it fits a 97 it will fit a 99. That airlift kit is just for load leveling, not a real lift. You still have your old springs/shocks and it does nothing for the front suspension. If you are looking for a real air suspension the only place to look is Off Road Only. Although he does not...

3 or 4 Link with Air Bags???

I have a three link using an Nth Degree Stinger with a track bar on mine and it works really well with the AiRock. I've been running this on my XJ for more than 6 years now and still love it. Having control over my ride height and center of gravity beats any fixed height system hands down. Don't...

AC compressor to OBA compressor (question)

X2 on the extra hose/line length so air can cool down. I use the coalescing filter and return line as shown in the diagram, but instead of a manual valve I put in a check valve that allows the oil to return to the compressor automatically. The port for the oil return on a sanden is at the 3...

Yet another A/C to air compressor conversion ('99)

You should still be able find fittings to at least connect to the flexible part of the hoses. Barbed on both sides or just barded on one side with threaded on the other. I used a barbed/threaded fitting before I had the welded one made, it worked fine.

Yet another A/C to air compressor conversion ('99)

You don't have to, just find the fittings that you need at a hardware store to connect the line/hose directly to the compressor. I just happen to have a friend with a TIG handy. Jerrry H:D

Yet another A/C to air compressor conversion ('99)

How'd you attach the copper or stainless tube to the aluminum output tube without at least a short section of rubber in the crimped on end? I posted some piture links earlier, In the pic you can see the stainless steel line connected to a check valve and then screwed into the fitting...

Yet another A/C to air compressor conversion ('99)

Yes, the compressor does get hot, that is why I have a 6' braided stainelss line coming off the compressor to help cool it down before it gets to any other components that might have plastic or be heat sesitive... Did you adjust the flow on the oiler when you installed it? There should be an...

Yet another A/C to air compressor conversion ('99)

I've got two of those sitting in my garage, looking for a new home. I ran that until I decided I didn't need that big a tank and switched to a one gallon tank. Jerry H

Yet another A/C to air compressor conversion ('99)

There is a way to take the guess work out of oiling Sanden compressors. I've been running OBA off of my Sanden for 6 years and have burned up at least half a dozen compressors. Last year I replumbed it connecting the drain from the coalescing filter though a check valve to a fitting on the...

    ORO XJ SwayLock First look

I just had mine off last week for some rust removal and paint. The locking mechanism was and still works fine after almost three years in Minnesota. There should still be some mud in that picture somewhere. http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j463/JerryRH/MY%20XJ/DSCF0961.jpg
