    My RE kit ain't good...

Had my XJ worked on at M.I.T. Drivetrain Specialists in El Cajon, CA Easy to work with, professional, courteous, and they know their stuff. They'll get my business from now on. What was done... 1) Added spacers to the front springs to level out the XJ. IMO, RE should include spacers in their...

I lifted my XJ,how do I lower the transfercase?

I can tell you the steps I've taken just to give you an idea where you might be headed... I had a 3.5" lift put in my 1998 XJ (mostly the same as you 2001) and also experienced drive-line vibes. 1) Dropped transfer case 1"; Vibes were a little better around town but still bad on the highway...

    My RE kit ain't good...

Yup, you got me. I didn't tell the whole truth in the post in 2004. I had the lift done by a machanic of 20+ years. I called him a pro because he fixes cars for a living. I was there when the kit was put in. I didn't personnally hammer the U-bolts. And, BTW, they were replaced once I got...

I specified a Chrystler 8.25. How many tube diameters does the 8.25 have in an XJ?

    My RE kit ain't good...

Re: Yikes! Re: My RE kit ain't good... Shocks = Rubicon Mono-tube Shocks. I was concerned about these when I ordered them on the phone with RE. I was assured by the RE salesman that: "These are the shocks that are custom designed for the spring rate of the Super-Ride kit installed on a 1998...

    My RE kit ain't good...

I specified the axle! When I called to request the correct hardware I was told "this happens quite a bit, the shipping guys pull the wrong hardware". You're right, even RE blames someone else. It's a spring-pack. And, yes, everything is torqued CORRECTLY after setting it down. Cadillac...

    My RE kit ain't good...

Yikes! Re: My RE kit ain't good... Man, I stirred up a hornet's nest. O.K. I'll clarify some of the stuff. I have the RE6025 3.5" Super Ride w/ Rear Springs XJ kit. Installed by pro's (I watched). Bolts are torqued. Installed about a year ago. Urban 4X4? I can't remember if the damage...

    My RE kit ain't good...

I put three signs in my XJ so someone else won't get stuck with a kit like I ended up with. RE either sent me the wrong springs or their engineers just think a vehicle shouldn,t sit level. I bought the SuperRide kit - yea right. I had a 1-ton cab and chassis that rode smoother. AAAGGGHH!

    Brakes pulling to one side

Agree with SyCo. Sticking Caliper or rear brakes not adjusted equally. If the right rear shoes are not adjusted as close to the drum as the left that could make it make it pull right. Also check the left front caliper squeeze the piston back in a bit and make sure it will slide to self center...

    242 TC rear seal problem

Re: 242 (231) TC rear seal problem I just received a Tom Wood kit for my '98 XJ and then came across this thread. I called TW (spoke with troy) and he confirmed they are now using locktite to glue in the seal. I hope I don't have any trouble. I've owned a couple oil dripping Harleys so I'm...

10 Lb. residual pressure on drum brakes

Is anyone running a residual valve on the rear drums? I've read it will hold the shoes closer to the drums. I have been experimenting with the parking brake and found that one to two "clicks" makes braking MUCH better but still gives no drag on the brakes. I bought the valve, but haven't...
