Do you use the Novak adapter? And is your AW4 21 or 23 Spline?
I'm about to do the same and I'm trying to figure the cheapest way out.
But the Novak stuff is a little pricey.
I'm in the same boat as you. I have a passenger side drop D60 that I want to run. Normally I would say that it's not worth the effort and it would be easier to find another axle, but the D300 with twinsticks would also be a nice upgrade.
But you will need this adapter for the AW4...
I have thought about that too. A lot of the yota guys run JJs on their leaf spring suspension. You could replace the stock bushing with a JJ or a SF Joint but the leaf spring eye has to have the right ID. Alcan springs have designed their leafs to run JJs. And you can run a JJ on top of the...
The diesel engines in the XJs over here sucks. But it's a 2.5L VM Diesel. I think there's no reason to swap the good ol 4.0 for a diesel engine. I would rather stroke it or put a bigger V8 in it.
In general it's not a good idea to use longer shackles on a saggin rear because your leaves will sag even more. But I would say it's OK when it's just for short term use.
When the exhaust pipe hits the shackle...just cut it off
...the pipe not the shackle :laugh3:
It depends on if it's a 27 spline or a 29 spline. The 29 spline will be nearly as strong as a 44. A 27 spline would not be worth the swap.
But when you are going to swap in a 44 why don't you keep the 35 by then.
It will hold up fine as long as it isn't locked. I'm doing the same until I get my...
It depends on what year your XJ is. If your XJ is 1996 or newer you might need a t-case drop.
But you should drive it first it's probably not that bad.
If there are any vibes they will most likely be at around 65 mph and up.
When you intend to go offroad with your XJ you will hate the t-case...
I also have the stock gearing and 33s. It's not much worse as it was with the 31s. But going up hill sucks. I think it depends in which area you live.
And better mpg with bigger tires? I got better mpg with the 31s.
My XJ is not heavy. The stock bumper and no extra weight. The leafs I ran before (JC2B) were too soft so I think that's the reason why they sagged so much.
And after 6 month my tires started rubbing in the rear even on road.
No problem with the new packs so far.
But I think that only the JC1A...
For 3" out of an OME you need the 934 ZJ Coilsprings and the JC1A Leafsprings.
I have had the HD Leafsprings but they just gave me 2" and sagged a lot after 6 month. They were very soft and had a big overload leaf.
The dealer I bought the Leafs from replaced them and I took the JC1A. But I...
I have 5" lift and I had to cut 1" of sheetmetal. Theres no way to run these tires without trimming the front unless you plan to use long bumpstops. The rear didn´t require any trimming but the tires rub sometimes.
Trimmed front with relocated stock flares:
I have had the JC2B HD Expedition leafs and they sagged after a few month and they only gave me 1" lift. I thought the HD ones must give the most lift but I was wrong. They were too soft and the 31s rubbed all the time.
even in curves on the street.
After that I installed the JC1A and they...
