I need some technical advice on the possibility of swapping my pristine 99 Cherokee 4.0 into a high mileage 99 Grand. The grand is just much more suited to my family.
I have here the tippy top of the line of any ZJ ever offered. Jeep produced less than fifteen thousand of these babies with the 360 cubic inch V8's with 245 hp and 345 lb·ft f torque, going from zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, making it the quickest SUV available that year. The 5.9 Limited was...
Finally got around to disassembling CopperTop.

The Good:
Head was milled down during a head gasket replacement for slightly higher compression. During that time the entire head was cleaned, the valves re-seated, and all gaskets including intake/exhaust, valve/head...
I got this at the jy out of a mid 90's Dakota with a V8. It is a rebuilt alt PN 15689. It looks like it was just installed, still has the stickers on it & in fact it's cleaner than mine. It is a direct swap into a 97-98, to fit it into 99-00 u have to splice into the two field wires, seriously...
Ok so I'm at he jy rite now and don't have the battery power or signal to do too much searching. W/ my 4.5" RE lift my shackle angle is near vertical (short shock mounts compressed shocks). Can I use an MJ main leaf w/the rest of my pack to correct that? Or are Dakota or s10's better at that...
Anyone have an opinion on these headers. They are nice and long = more torque and gro form 3 to 2 to 1 which is also more desirable.

So I snatched up a stock crossmember from the JY and beefed it up substantially. But after installation I noticed the t-case linkage didn't line up at all, in fact I couldn't even shift at all because the horizontal leverage arm came out of its bracket. Aldo the bracket on the transmission was...
After a weeklong trip on the Dusy I noticed a horrific sound coming from my stock steering box. It kindof went away after it warmed up but is still there quite obviously. It is a very loud screeching, like a super dry hinge or of the like. I am thinking the box is dry but can't figure out why...
symptoms. driving at highway speed and all of a sudden lost the ability to maintain speed, engine started sputtering and the temp was one dash past 210, maybe a bit less. I pulled over and only then did I realize I was decorating the road with antifreeze, steem then enveloped as I turned it...
So I finally got the the JY and found an 87 XJ that was in amazing condition, could have been a 97. It had the D44 (already gone), and those cool tilting AND reclining front seats. The frame literally has half moon rails to slide on, along with reclining, almost goes flat!!!
I didn't think...
After reading all the wonderful articles on OBS with a York from various sources, including a JY Volvo, I began to wonder why I couldn't just use a JY A/C compressor as the pump for an OBA system. It makes sense but somehow I think I missing something. A bracket could be made, maybe just below...
I seriously want to get rid of my ABS, it just sits there wryly taking up space I could be using for something cooler.
I tried looking for a tech artcicle but I couldn't find one.
HELP me get my mind off of nursing school!!
I was looking at TnT's front bumper, which I love, and wondered if what they said about upgrading to the YJ steering box is beneficial? I think it has 1 more bolt than our XJ's, but stronger? Worth it?

XJ's & MJ's come with a 2.4:1 variable ratio...
After wheeling my XJ with 33's that have lots of tread left, I got the bigger tire fever. Which then leads to axle strength, which then leads to a front D44 conversion.
I have read all the articles about doing the ole' switheroo, narrowing it, welding.....etc etc. BUT if I'm not mistaken...
OK so I saw an add for their Cherokee suspension in a magazine so I checked it out at bds-suspension.com. I got very interested when I saw that the long-arm system is a true 4-link and the control arms mount to a custom cross member. Where they mount even seems to be inside the frame rails...
