I wanted to fix a few big dents and a crack in the door of the XJ (bondo, dent puller) but the main problem is that it would be impossible to match the factory paint.
So...since the XJ is already ugly, figured might as well try something....using a couple cans of BBQ spraypaint, lol. It looks...
Finally got around to getting the Canyons put on. I had previously stripped them to bare metal and prepped extensively, and painted using wheel lacquer (gloss black) with a few topcoats of flat black lacquer and flat clearcoat. I think it looks pretty good...These are the 15x8 TJ Canyons rather...
Did some stuff...
Picked up an OEM, hard-to-find Mopar rear tire carrier assembly at junkyard a few weeks back. It was in crappy condition, rusty, and missing several pieces of hardward and brackets - including the rubber grommet on the hatch assembly and the 2 main bolts and bushings that...
A few minor projects on the lighting end (pics below)
1. Added some clear acrylic covers for my Hellas on the bumper, so they don't get broken but can still be on without removing covers.
2. Added a third Hella 550 up top. Three just looks better than two :) As you can see, I have them...
There is a tube that comes from side of the airbox (air filter box) and goes someplace down toward the engine block (I haven't looked too hard as to where). I don't have a pic, but it reminds me of the ducting that comes from the back of a dryer or something.
Anyhow, the one on my XJ is all...
While at the junkyard today came across a '93 XJ with a tire carrier on the back. So, since I'm lookign for one (fab or stock) I pulled it off (and all the reinforcing brackets, etc) and got it for cheap.
Anyhow, a few questions about this:
1. all the stock XJ carriers I've seen in the past...
Gents,
Does anyone make a brush guard that resembles
in terms of the center raised section - perhaps attached to the tow hook points (and keeping the tow hooks)? This being with the stock front bumper rather than a full aftermarket bumper like the JCR....
Or, any decent brush guard...
After browsing for many hours, I still can't seem to find any pics of people with 31x10.5's on the factory 5-star wheels. Are they just not popular/liked?
Anyhow I'm not ready to get new wheels, just new tires - so if you have a pic of 31x10.5 on these wheels, please help me out and post them...
Picked up this XJ a couple months ago and have been adding things to it on a budget (it's just my utility vehicle, so I don't want to spend too much on it). Anyhow, here are some pics...
specs:
'90 XJ 5speed
mystery front coils and AALs for a measured 3" lift f/r (no blocks/spacers)
skyjacker...
FS: Various XJ items - skid plate, cupholder, SJ 3" springs, 1.5" shackles, etc
^^I meant XJ 3" Springs, not "SJ"
Have a bunch of things taking up space that I need to unload. Prices are negotiable in some cases, so let me know if you want to make an offer. Note that I just had a new baby, so...
I'm looking for a single Hella 550 - any color, any output. Doesn't have to be in great shape, just has to work and lens uncracked. I don't need wiring or switches or anything.
If you have a pair, whatever condition, will consider them as well.
Josh
Just a quick question: DId the 1990 XJ come with a cover for the interior fuse box (the one inside the firewall just below the clutch M/C)? When I bought the XJ the M/C was leaky and clutch fluid dripped onto the fuse box. I've cleaned it all up when I replaced the M/C, but want to prevent this...
Can they be run with 3" skyjacker coils up front on a 1990 XJ?
My XJ came with some discos and a mystery 4.5" or so lift in the front, which is being taken off because the ride is awful and the springs are rusted to hell, and the spacer is cracked.
I'm putting on the 3" coils (with no...
I recently switched off the 32x11.5s that came on my XJ for a more practical (in this city area) 30x9.5 setup - both tires BFG AT KO's.
Since i bought the XJ a month or so ago, I had not experienced the DW (btw, it has a 3" or so BB) with the 32s. But the day of putting the 30s on (with all...
I bought a '90 XJ a few weeks back. mechanically it has been running very well, including the transmission.
But on two recent occasions
- both times it had not been driven in a couple days
- both times it was under 40 degrees or so
I went to drive it after startup and could not get it in gear...
Thank God I decided to drive the Cherokee today, which I rarely drive. Would have been right through the (lowered, extensively modified) Maxima's windshield. Didn't even see it until it flashed in front of my headlights...didn't have a chance to touch the brakes. Hit at 55mph, felt like running...
gents, a few quick and easy questions. I searched and found some answers, but not specifically to these...
The XJ I picked up up front has 2" spring spacers, and I'm pretty sure that the springs themselves are from a grand cherokee V8 or other non-stock source, since the measured (by the...
