    Yes! There is one VERY big exception. It is 2.5L Automatic with the AW-4 automatic that contains 4.56 natively. 1984-86 will have 3.73 ratio with the automatic (IIRC) 2.5L Auto 1987+ will have 4.56. They ARE very rare. I mean you'd have better luck searching for Hens Teeth. That being said...

    Yeah, the mopar sending units are diff for 2.5 with idiot lights and with guages. As for the Voltmeter, take the others advice and chase gounds.

    Im not sure on the newer DIS style engines, but 4.0's were keyed on the distributor. It IS still possible to stab it in incorrectly but you'll have to verify what I just said, Im not too sure, but it is an iddea.

    Towbar it. Its been done, Pete M of ComancheClub.com drug his *very* modified (HP Ford 44/9" on 35's + full trail gear) 1988 MJ with a Dodge Durango of the same size. Did it on the freeway too, IIRC about 300 miles. Yours is stripped almost clean, a towbar will do it.

    The Dodge 2.5L 5spd transmission is an AX-15 with the 60 degree BH.

    Yes, the BH is different. That and the factory 4.56 gearing. Its pretty neat, I drove one before it was junked due to rust issues, the owner kept the BH, TB and all assoc. cables. Not much getup'n'boogie but great DD material.

    Yes, it exists. I have found it once. A 1989 Comanche Sportruck. Factory 4.56 gears. Now, in XJ's Ive found it 3 times, all as 2x4. All 1989's. All 4doors.
