turns out you can use pretty much anything. The long harley mirrors seem to fit the best though and can get 'em at the local dealer for ~20 bucks

I had heard something about using Harley mirrors for YJ/TJ when you take the doors off. Anyone know about what years might work/know anything about it? Also, haven't seen anything about mirrors that would fit in the door slots, but do they exist? (i've done the usual searches for what i knew...

dang....props to you Pete M- those are some sweet looking rails! I don't know much about them on the whole, but is there any chance that you might do some frame damage by really coming down on the rails? I'd imagine the frame would be strong enough, but I've never seen a design like yours...

got the lift covered (3.5" RE). I just need to start figuring out where I can get a a v8 drivetrain from. Anyone know which vehicles I can look to for the engine and tranny? I'm looking at either the TH400 or the TH700R4. Looks like those two are the best fit for a 4x4 daily driver, auto

Anyone out there make an adapter to mate a 5.0L Mustang to an aw4 tranny (mine's an '89 auto with a recently replaced tranny)? I'm getting a rebuilt engine and since I have to spend the money (keeping in mind, I'm hoping not to go much over 1500) I figured I would at least explore my options...

unfortunately, i've got huge blowby problems (spits quite a bit of oil through the air filter), so I'm thinking it might be a good idea to just go with a reman. It's a bummer though, because it'd be nice to have the stroker, just more money than i probably need to spend right now. at this...

any thoughts on rebuild vs. buying a remanufactured from advanced auto? I can get one for around 820 out here in VA, but I'm not sure how much it would cost for the rebuild...didn't know what was involved to look up! :rattle:

good to know about the '00...i'd thought it was going to be a decent one until i started reading up on things any ideas about other years? Is the '89 a good base to work from, or should I be looking for a HO?
