It says they were firing artillery shells with the incendiary agent white phosphorus. I googled pictures. It looked similar to white phosphorus.
They do, but they looked more like fireworks, that screenshot doesn't show them very well. Try to catch the video of them on CNN. They just floated down like the sparks do after the firework exploded, and they set fire to stuff on the ground. They did not look like the minigun videos that I have...
i think the first one is a flare. they were just hanging like flares do anyway. the bottom one i don't know what that was, but they weren't hanging like the flare.

The aftermarket cowl induction hood (Reflexxion) that Quadratec sells is good for 84-01. I would assume they will swap, but I don't know for sure.

you can weld with a torch. you use filler rod and use similar techniques as used with brazing. welding with a torch is easier than brazing, however it still takes some practice to get the hang of it.
