Ive been away from XJs for a long time but my buddy needs my help getting his 90 running. He pulled the motor to re seal it and the Jeep sat for about a year. Put it all back together and it wont start. He has fuel pressure and has changed the CPS. When cranking, the coil sparks once then...
I thought the combo of the stock piman arm and track bar might be to blame since it sits lower to the left. I dont recall if it sits the same with the track bar disco'ed but I do know the axel sits offset quite a bit without it connected and thats why i think it could be causing it. I have the...
NO... by saying 4.5" RE (ZJ) that would imply Coils thus in the front since I have an XJ with leaves in the rear and ZJ's have coils all around. That being said, I dont think my weight would have any effect while I am standing in my driveway measuring the difference in height so thanks...
Ok So.......1990 XJ sat 1.5" lower on drivers side with 3" rough country coils an 2" spacers now I am running 4.5" RE ZJ springs and it still sits bad. Can not running a sway bar in the front do this or what is going on. All the springs are new. Can it have something to do with the track bar and...
Ok. so nothing seems bent and the rear leafs are new. it actually sits higher in the opposing corner if you look at it in the rear(passenger side). I will try to post some pics tonight. it just sits weird that I can pull up on the drivers side and hold it level. I just cant help but think it has...
ok.....It is a 1990 XJ with RE 4.5"ZJ coils in front(5.5"), 3.5" RE leafs and 2" shackles in rear, RE ajustable track bar and Rockkrawler adj control arms. I had 3" coils w/spacers and I thought one was just going bad because they were rough country. I put the new RE ZJ coils in tonight and it...
Ok. Took it to my mechanic freind. He said pull the plugs and look. So......... compression is 165/175 across the board except #2 is 155. The plugs are all equal in color but are covered in a brownish ash looking hard deposit that chips off if you use your fingernail. The pistons are black from...
approx 10,000mi on a rebuilt motor and now it is running hot, the coolant is brown and I am using approx 2 quarts of oil a week. There is no smoke while at idle and very little puffs of smoke with accel(but it is blue). maybe a cracked head? or??????????? any ideas
also no visible water in the...
Ok so I bored my throttle body at work. (a cnc mill) and made a new plate for the butterfly, opened up the shaft to accept the larger butterfly and I think it fits together better than the factory. The thing you have to realize is that the butterfly sits in the TB at an exact angle and has to be...
I get 15 city and 20 hwy on mine with 5" and 32x11.5's with the 3.55 stock gearing. I think what most people are not doing is accounting for what tire dia changes do to the miles rolled on your speedo(I know some of you are though). A 33" tire is 18% larger than the 27" tire that came on my...
Yes, you do need and oiler so get a good one. Mine is Campbell Hausfield. I just used one of those filter stones on the intake side of it for a filter. As far as the filter/seperator you should have one of these too. But, be aware the air being compressed and coming from the AC unit will be...
9 out of 10 times it is the CPS that causes this. I am sure there is an ohm test for it just do a search and you should find it here. How many miles on the CPS thats in there now?
Found out after I did the cherry bomb to mine that Forest officials dont consider a muffler with a straight through design to be a spark arrestor and I see there point. I have even been told they will look under there if they meet up with you. I have to change it to something else before going...
Actually if you have a buddy just turn the steering wheel and hold it to where the tires are centered under the body it is pretty easy to judge the length and line it up. without the bar attached the jeep just sways back and forth over the front axle when you turn the wheel. I vote for RE as for...
Just wanted to know what increases were noticed if any boring to 58mm and or using a TB spacer. I already made a TB spacer out of Phenolic which is supposed to be heat resistant rater than alum but haven't installed it as of yet and I am about to bore my extra TB out to 58mm.
Thanks
Dan
mine fires up with the resistor unplugged and then shuts down about 5 sec later and the NSS wont let it crank at all so I would say it has to be something else.

Measure your factory springs. The pin is off center in the spring going front to back and so are the RE's . Also note the larger bushing end of the factory springs. This end goes in the body side. The same is true with aftermaket springs. RE's however arent much bigger and almost appear to be...
