    best shocks?

Definitely go Bilstein if you're looking for best performance for the price. If you're a tweaker or do a lot of highspeed driving, the 7100s are the best "inexpensive" shock and you can revalve. If you want the benefits of the 7100 without the ability to rebuilt/revalve then 5150s are a good...

    explorer locking hubs?

Get the Milemarker D30 manual hub conversion kit instead. It's cheaper and it's pre-assembled and has alloy stubs in the box with the 760X joints. Saves a lot of time, money, and energy. I have this kit and so does a friend of mine. We have had no issues with it.

    32" tires, new gears?

The carrier break is 3.73 on a D30. The 8.25 doesn't need a new carrier unless you just want to replace it due to age (i.e. it's cracked or has something wrong with it). In other words, you need a new carrier for the D30. I got mine from Precision Gear. Yeah, the 8.25 carrier is a bitch unless...

    32" tires, new gears?

I disagree. Do it yourself and save the money. It's not rocket science.

coil spring clip retainer bolt thingy won't go back in...

It's really common. Every Jeep I've ever worked on had them stripped. Make your own and use a self-tapping screw (two sizes larger works best from my experience). You can also use a conduit clamp (hold electrical conduit to the wall).

    XJ leaning to the right

had the same issue. I got the rusty's adjustable spacers and the problem was solved. I also like his coils (same manufacturer as RE and a few others.. I believe it's Eibach? Not sure). Anyway, it worked real good for me. A stiffer coil is better if you have a winch or heavy front bumper or big...

how strong is a super d30?

Hey bro! Saw the other thread where you got raped for talking about the new mud truck. Let's get together and head out to SE. We can get Bill out there in the Bronco too. Just got a D60 to replace the busted 44. :peace:

    Nice build, gasman.

    Highly Modified

Yeah, I know banks won't loan most people money for a 99 XJ, even if it has $25K into it. But there's always a signature loan or how about good old fashioned hard work and savings? Me, I'll take the latter please! No debt is a good feeling. ;)

Yeah, they are Currie built (i.e. overpriced). Has ARB airlockers in them. He IS a darn good fabricator. Probably one of the best I've ever seen (here or anywhere else). I don't think most people at 4wheelparts know anything, but this guy is an exceptional fabricator. He has the strongest, best...

    Highly Modified

My point was you can't build a rig as capable as the one I listed for $15k. Spending $15k on the one I posted and then using it for parts is cheaper than buying new parts. He has $15k in the axles alone. I get your point though. I built my XJ and all, but people don't admire you any more or less...

    Running Claws Backwards

Personally, I don't think the difference will be substantial. Claws suck. Get some boggers or TSL/SXs. ;)

    Highly Modified

Buy one already modified and save a ton. If you are interested in a mudding rig, I have a buddy who is selling his 99 XJ. It has 44" military tires, coilovers front and rear (reinforced mounts are bulletproof), a custom built y-link with long arms front and rear, 15" lift, winch with synth...

    Xj steering on a xj

That looks familiar. ;) What about chevy 1-ton (3/4 ton) tie rod ends and custom tapped rods with lovely yellow and black striped hazard paint. ;)

window tint: how dark is too dark?

It's virtually never enforced here in Florida. One excellent way to avoid any problems is to roll the windows down. If you are stopped, I recommend rolling down the window (with power windows) as quickly as possible and then placing both hands on the steering wheel. It IS ALL about officer...

1st hand experience with front driveshaft used in rear with SYE?

I have the same issue Ramsey does. My rear shocks only allow 2" of droop. So I'm looking at th Bilstein 5100s for the rear. Soon, I plan to go to a coil rear end and get some crazy flexible springs for that project. Hopefully I won't be shooting myself in the foot financially though! ;)

    Which long arm lift?

It takes all of 20 minutes to drop the bellyskid to pull the trans and/or transfer case. So don't let the skid keep you from going with it. It's CAKE to remove. (corrected) LOL

    The best 4.5" leaf pack?......

Alcan also makes good leaves. I like RE because they are in stock at my local shop year round (cause no one buys anything but RoughCountry down here it seems). :D
