ive heard about a flange or joint (whatever) that goes between the exaust manifold and the down pipe connecting pieces. i think it was made of braided steel so that the down pipe could have some flex and take some stress off the very bottom of the exaust manifold. anyone know what i'm talking...

id go with the 99. i think thats the best yr for any xj. if im right the 2000, 2001's have a weaker head that is prone to cracking. and the 99 has somewhere around 15 horse power more just due to the intake man.

someone might have already said this, but if you have the tools and skills to do it, id suggest just building your own frame strengtheners. Just use 3x3 angle iron, and cut notches to angle the iron along the frame. then you have a flat surface to bolt things on to, and it's made my jeep very...

i was actually thinking that could be a reason. the guy i bought the jeep from put a TJ shifter on there and i took it off and put a '96 shifter on. but im pretty darn certain its on there right. Jeff

i put a 1996 np231 on my 1994 4.0 AX-15 XJ, and it will engage in to 4wheel low, but not 4wheel high. when i put it in the 4wheel high slot it acts like its in neutral. any ideas? Jeff this normally would not be a problem, but im having to drive to and from work in 4wheel low, b/c my rear...

okay i broke a second bearing puller and decided to try the grease trick one more time. and it worked. sorta. the bearing that is on the outside of the pilot bearing also came out. its alittle bigger (in width) than a half dollar. should this have happened? and when i put it back in should i...

i tried the grease trick, i think im gonna go get the slide hammer. the puller snapped on me. im also gonna try the tap, hopefully something will work. god this blows. and im working in the rain. georgia sucks. ill let yo know how it goes.

im not so sure about that. the bearing is in the center of the crank, and it has needles on the inside. i rented a pilot bearing puller today, and it snapped. any ideas?

hmmm, the ac blows like 400 mph. and is cold, and heat works. but the fan still doesnt come on.

its a 1994 SE, manuel, 4.0 ax-15, blah blah. and i assume it should come on after a run the AC for a while , but it doesnt.
