Do I need a Green sticker?

I'm with AAA. At 65 you'd think it would be cheap but I have two cars plus my XJ and motorhome and motorcycle all insured. To add the CJ it was only a couple of hundred dollars but I don't drive it ever on the road and really don't take it to the desert very often. The XJ is much more...

Do I need a Green sticker?

Well that is not good as I for sure will want to put it back on the road at some point. I trailer it so it currently never goes on the street and the insurance is pretty expensive for a vehicle that only currently gets driven off road.

Do I need a Green sticker?

I have non oppe'd my CJ5. It still has a plate on it but it is expired. The registration is no problem, the problem is having to keep it insured. Will I have a problem in Johnson Valley? Should I see about getting a Green Sticker for it? Any thoughts?

    How tight Rear Shackle Bolts?

How tight should the rear shackle bolts be? Seems to me if I go too tight it will pinch the travel.

    Removing front coils

Well I got it done and the Harbor Freight compressors did fine. But I really didn't need to compress the springs much. I didn't see the bottle jack idea until I was done, I'd try that next time!

    Removing Shackles Any tricks

I've soaked them in PB Blaster. My big air wrench will sort of get to the bottom bolt but not the top one. These suckers are TIGHT! I'm thinking I may need to go buy a 3/4 inch drive socket and break bar. This is a West coast truck so no rust. Is there a nut on the top bolt or does it just screw...

    Front coil clamp stripped

Thank you all, when I'm working on the XJ it is so good to have more brains on a problem than just mine.

    Front coil clamp stripped

I'm thinking you are right, the spring is compressed by the vehicle weight. I'm thinking I'll leave it and keep a watch on it. There is no access under it for a nut. If it seems to be causing problems I'm pretty sure I can just put in a self tap. I was pretty impressed with them on my AJ's...
