Does anyone know if the CV axle shafts from a 94ish ZJ can be direct swapped to an 89 XJ?

I was just asking how it could happen or if it does. Just being theoretical.

I was curious if anyone knows why front axles bend. I just find it interesting since they are in a tube and have joints at the end instead of flanges. Just curious. I can understand how they could twist torsionaly.

I think I'll let it be and wait till I can upgrade the XJ properly, thanks for the input! :)

I just came across a near free 98ZJ 4x4 I have an 89 XJ AW4 242 D30/D35, 3.5inch lift SYE. Keeping it Would it be to my advantage to swap parts off of the ZJ, I know the rear axle wouldn't fit without modifying. Or should I leave the ZJ alone? And as they sit both run fine.

I found it!!!! After looking at my yoke only for the millionth time. After this shaft swap I noticed there was a small amount of play at the yoke. I checked the joints when I had it out. I measured the yoke and the difference and it was .02" wider. I had a spare at home and looked at it and...

I took the rear shaft out and it made some improvements although I got a new set of vibes running the front alone. I think I'll get it balanced and see what happens.

Well shims make no difference in either direction. Going to pull the shaft and drive on the front. I'll see what happens next

Replaced the tires finally!, I'd say it got 75% better. I'm still amazed that the old tires still looked good but were wreaking havoc. I still have a slight vibe going at high speed but I think that may be the drive shaft. I'll play with that some more to see if it helps. As of right now the...
