Simply adjusting the lights to compensate for the lift won't work well every time. A lot of it depends on beam pattern, cutoff, etc and that will vary by make/model of headlight. Just just a wall and adjust your headlights properly.
Yeah, unfortunately $700 isn't going to get you a complete overland build. Enjoy her for what she is until you have the cash. Stock XJs are still incredibly capable and it will probably get you most of anywhere you want to go.
Right now I believe I'm just chasing threads. There didn't feel/look to be damage except for maybe the top thread on the port. I'm going to see if the new hose will thread this morning. If it won't, my next step will likely be removing the box and getting a better picture of what's going on.

I'm at work but will post pics tonight. The thread on the PS hose was still attached to the hose fitting when I removed the hose, but partially peeled away from the fitting.
So the thread that peeled off was the thread from the PS hose, not the port thread. I didn't tighten it down too much but maybe I did over tighten... If it doesn't thread with the new hose I'll probably try a tap. If that doesn't work I may be screwed as far as the new box goes.
Do you know if...
For any of you who have been frequenting the forum you've probably run across a couple of my recent posts.
Long story short: I swapped in a Durango steering box. Got an alignment. PS pump went out. Just installed a brand new pump.
So now we are here. I purchased new "Precision" brand...
Thanks for that. Yeah, I don't blame the stock pump for not being able to handle it. My stock pump was probably as beat as my steering box. Now they'll both be new
Everyone can ignore this or mods can delete. I ordered a new unit from O'reillys. Already took the old one out. Replacing the lines and pulley at the same time.
Alright, on to the next problem.
Just replace my steering box with a Durango box and got an alignment today. Everything was great, steering felt great, then on my way home I lost power steering at idle/low speeds. Luckily it was mostly a straight shot and I limped her home.
I was told by some...
