So I've been trying to track down a "pop" issue in the front of my '01 XJ for a while now. I've replaced and tightened nearly everything suspension related and still get the pop when my suspension has any articulation... turning in a parking lot on a hill, backing out of my driveway and turning, etc... that being said.... I can't seem to find this while laying under my rig and checking all wearout parts. If only I could lay under my XJ while it was driving. Ha
I have noticed that my front end appears to be 'sagging' when looking the profile. I've got 177K miles on what I'm assuming are the original Coils Springs. I replaced the bump-stops last year w/ polys that I had to cut as they were too long. May need to remove another 1" of those too... Bilstein front shocks on front. No lift currently.
I'm wondering if my front coils are just plain worn out. My rear leafs are flat so those need to be replaced soon as well. I don't really need or want a lift on my XJ... at least no more than 1" or so.
Anyway, lot of rambling to ask if Coils wear out? Suggestions on an OE style or better replacement that doesn't give me a 3"+ lift? Appreciate the input as always!
