TRAIL RIDE - MARCH 11

I think mine is all ready!

I just finished a full WJ swap yesterday. I also put in a PSC power steering pump with reservoir and cooler. I put in a new trans cooler, and most importantly, installed a roof rack!

Battery tray and new Yellow Top installed (the one I had was dropping to 0 volts when I cranked - think I was past "toasted" into "extra cripsy" territory, but hey I still managed 8 years out of it). Starts much better now...

Didn't get to the bumpstops so I'll just have to be careful. Do need to get some zipties or something to secure the swaybar, though, the straps that came with the disco kit disintegrated last summer - lasted just long enough to get me through NACFest.

3.5", 31s, open/open, and not looking to get too nuts - it's got to get me home, as usual.

You'll be fine, Rob, we have a pretty good turnout so there will be multiple groups to accommodate everyone for sure!

How are everyone else's rigs going? Ready to go? I'm still building my front bumper and tube fenders, one side is mocked will be building the other side tomorrow. Need more tubeeeeeeee since I want to do more things now. My brothers t-case just blew up so that will be next on the list. All to be done by Friday.......or one would hope

Mines on the trailer already:)

Sounds like a plan. The "nothing too nuts" part was at least partly to remind myself that I have to get home, and not to do anything stupid.

Looking forward to this - first non-NACFest wheeling trip for me in a while!

unfortunately I'm not making it. Have fun y'all

If you are coming, meet at the NAXJA sign back by the porta-dumpers at 8:30AM.

Get signed in, aired down, and ready to go .... groups roll out at 9:30!!

Lunch will be served in the parking lot at noon, so plan your morning trails accordingly.

Most likely there will be two main groups going out.

  1. Green group. Cruise around on greens and easy blues with the goal of covering a decent amount of ground and not breaking anything. Probably do the NE property. There will be opportunities for guys to run some harder obstacles if they want, but for the most part it will be an easy day.
  2. Blue+ group. Which really means they'll turn on their lockers at the first black trail they come to.

And of course, if a couple of the big dogs want to bark, they might break off and hit some harder blacks and reds.

DRESS WARM!!!!!

I did my wj swap some time ago, and did a cooler as well,, did you do a filter by chance ? I just swaped in a new/reman pump. the junk yard one lasted 3 years.

pending weather we still hope to make it. we'll be camping not sure about the extra fridge weather over nite

Nope, no filter. I didn't even think of that .... sounds like a good idea though.

You are brave to be camping. Maybe you could put up a teepee and build a fire inside it like the Indians used to do.

It is looking like it going to be cold, so I hope everyone will appreciate my homemade chicken chili for lunch. It's going to be so cold at night I think Keith is bringing his flannel lined jorts!

No I'm not bring flannel lined jorts. Just build a big fire. :flame:

I got my filter @ auto zone for 10 bucks, it's very fat. about 2" in dia.

as for camping, and snow on Friday nite, i'd say we are out. I don't wanta get stuck on 78 or the tp with a trailer and snow.. I do wanta go again, so do post up. any time your headed to r/c.

thanks and have a safe trip every one

Yeah, not happy about the forecast for Friday, but Weather Underground is saying it'll only be an inch - hope they're right this time.

Say, Rich, is there anything we can bring for the lunch festivities, such as supplies (food/drink/accessories), infrastructure(chairs/canopies/etc.)?

Leah and I will be rocking the Toy this weekend. There are SOME dis-advantages to cutting off the roof on the XJ, and having a marginal at best heater. The Toy will be on the trailer though, as it has not been trail tested too hard yet.

Looking forward to a fun weekend!!

Yes, it is forecast to be very cold overnight. If you are indeed looking at tent camping, if I may ask how big is your tent? A simple sheet under the rain fly covering the screens helps big time. I've tented in sub-20 degree nights, so I may be able to help. I have two propane fired tent heaters. Just say the word and I'll bring them with me to get you through the night.
