What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

OK what am I missing or doing wrong... what may I check. It seems my steering wheel constantly needs to be straightened. Seems to always get a few irritating degrees off. I have not wheeled since last alignment just a bit of on road trips. Is something breaking down... seems most of my front end is new :(

make sure to shav it a little and weld the pumpkin to the truss. i've seen one break the truss right in three at the uca mount. when i checked mine it was beginning to crack and was pulled up[ and away from the pumpkin.

#tntproblems

It has arrived

Before I went WJ I had a problem of the adjustment collar bolts coming loose.

Yes cylinder 3 is zero. We tested it 3 times to make sure.

Anyone want to buy a newly lifted Jeep that needs work? Haha. I'm so frustrated. Honestly dunno if I want to put any more money into it.

Burned the truss on today

Still need some clarification on the LCA, shock, and sway bar mounts

But should have the axle ready to go next week

Began the MMO GM TSB fix for massive oil consumption (presumably stuck piston rings) using MMO in what to me is a novel approach to cleaning and freeing up stuck piston rings and stopping rapid oil consumption on a 2001 Saturn. It is using about a quart of 20-W50 oil every 300 miles recently, but has no other issues.

You pull the spark plugs, and add about a Tbsp of MMO to the top of the piston through the spark plug hole, then let it sit for 24 hours ( I am going to do it twice, 2 days) and then with paper towels over the spark plug holes (Plugs still removed) you crank the engine. That throws out any MMO still on top of the top of the piston onto the paper towels. Then reinstall the spark plugs and run the engine.

GM claims in a TSB that this fixes stuck ring compression ring, high oil consumption issues with Saturn engines.

If this helps at all, I plan to do this to my 87 Wagoneer, XJ, and I also plan to pull the valve cover and do it to the top of the hydraulic lifters and see if that gets rid of the last of the lifter tick noise.

I may try it before I replace the head...and worn rockers, pivots and rods to decide if I need to replace the lifters when I swap heads.

Let us know how that works, maybe even a seperate thread for this?

Already posted one weeks ago when I read the GM TSB, on the OEM forum here.

Used, good jeep engines are easy to find and cheap. I just bought our second Renix spare weeks ago for about $150. They are not that hard to swap out either. My adopted son did one in two days right of high school.

What year was it? Oh, and it sounds more like the head/shot valves/head gasket is toast, than maybe the entire engine? What was the compression before it went south?

Tried for 2 hrs to get my Front Dana 30 Pinion Nut OFF, to Change Out a Leaking Pinion Seal. NO LUCK!
Tried Ratchet & Socket by Hand & w/ Jack & then got out the Air Tools & Big Compressor. 1 & 1/8" Socket on a Big Wheel Stud Impact Driver, Had No Effect!
Even Soaked the Nut 3 times, in between Tries w/ PB Blaster.
Still No Luck....Well... I Put It Back Together (Just in Case I Need to Drive in the morning) to Soak Overnight.
Jeep Whipped me Again ( First Time was Frozen Front Wheel Bearing, But I Got That One!)
Gonna Whip This one too ! Will Try Again in the AM.
Gotta Do the Rear Chrys. 8.25" Too! OMG!
Wish me Luck,

Son was in an accident this morning, no news or details yet, except he was discharged already from the hospital, but he had our best jeep which, if he was driving it, may be in sad shape, trying to get more info, but can't reach my son yet. And 3 days ago I was having horrendous attacks and trying to get Gallbladder surgery to fix it. OMG whats next? We all seem to be having a bad week.

911 call for help folks!!

My son was in an accident in my best 89 Renix jeep, it was like new, everything worked great. I just heard he rolled it in the accident. My son is OK, so he says.

But if the jeep was rolled I my need to strip it for parts fast, in which case I will need all the help I can get. Not sure about tow-ability until I see it. I have a driveway, and maybe spot at my shop to deal with it if the land lord will work with me. I have a spare perfect body at the shop, just needs an engine and AW4 and all the stuff under the hood swapped. Is anyone in the Houston area willing and able to help me out, to help me salvage what we can off the ol-girl?

Any one got a trailer with a wench if needed to load it if needed?

I have AAA, but do not know if they will tow it from the impound. It is at an HPD impound yard. Post up here and I will PM my phone to you if you can help or need parts off of it.

It's a 92.
Dude just get one from the junk yard, that what I did like 10 years ago. Been running fine since. Just make sure it's a "reputable" junk yard...if that exists lol

Glad to hear the boy is doing ok.

Thanks. The jeep is totaled except for the front end. 1/4 of the jeep, the rear of it is gone, crushed. Like the jeep fell off a bridge and landed on the tail gate. Looks like every side, was damaged some. Diffy cover has a huge hole, drive shaft is loose, looks like the rear axle was shoved forward pushing the drive shaft into the Tranny :bawl: maybe.

3, brand new tires still good I think, the engine bay internals and inside dash looks undamaged. Steering column OK. Hope to have it towed home tomorrow for a Wake. :bawl: I gave this jeep to my daughter when she graduated from HS. She moved to Detroit in Jan and is crushed at the loss. Planning to possibly pull what parts we can and toss them into the perfect body red jeep (Engine bay was stripped by the PO) I have had for spare body parts for 10 years and send it to Detroit.

ive been scouring local for sale pages looking for a 4l thats in decent shape.

going to pull the VC tomorrow or friday and see if a valve is stuck or what. fairly certain i am going to sell it as soon as i get it running. ive had such a negative experience with this thing i dont even want to mess with it anymore. definitely not how i wanted it to go but is what it is.

Well after you get it running, seems like you may have all the bugs worked out. :dunno:

Remove the three unit bearing bolts and pull the shaft out that way. I'd call that the preferred method for removal anyway.
