2014 Liberkee

Why is this even in OEM tech? General whining belongs in Non-Tech/Off topic, doesn't it?

Well, you are correct Sir.

Unless someone clicks on the nice red triangle and asks the Mod to move it, thread will stay, and people will continue responding to it because they just don't care.

I gave up caring a while back, so go for it

Jeep can't just build leaf sprung solid front and rear axle metal boxes with bench seats and dogbox tranny and expect to be profitable.

Why not? They did it once before. Now look.. We all here at NAXJA own them. The XJ is a damn good little Jeep. If they revived the standard XJ I don't think they would be able to make them fast enough IMO. Given the technology they have now and giving it few more MPG's out of it.... =Profit :dunno:

That liber.. whatever it is, is ummmmmmmm?? _________ I uhhhhh?? WOW! What the hell are they thinking? :wierd:

Whining like this is unbecoming.

I hadn't even thought of it else I woud have moved it earlier.

Not whining, factual. Mods don't have enough time in the day to troll the entire Forum and look for threads out of place. He could just as well poke the "Report Thread" as anyone else. I have reported more than my share of threads, and have gotten to the point of not caring anymore. Users don't care for the rules else they wouldn't respond to OT posts or pix requests with the frequency they do.

PM me, and we can have a long discussion on how one can make rules, and others not care to follow them.

I was more commenting on the passive-aggressive tone used - I fully agree with your sentiments on the matter.

I've said it before and will again, put the JK drivetrain and suspension on a Libby sized unibody and call it the Cherokee! Just make sure it's got the Pentastar V-6's in it:woohoo:

Everyone who thinks if Jeep actually made a leaf sprung Jeep with solid front & rear axles will be profitable needs to wake up. The fact that some people on NAXJA think this blows my mind.

Chrysler (or Dodge, Fiat, whoever) wants to make a car (or SUV) that will appeal to the public, especially people that want to buy a new car that looks attractive. Profits are what they are looking for, not making sure a group of Cherokee fanatics don't get butt hurt over the fact that they think the new models are "soiling the Cherokee name".

Remember, the Cherokee is a station wagon.

It's not that they are "soiling the Cherokee name" they are soiling the jeep name, and yes if they would make a straight axle suv it would sell, the wranglers still sell and make a profit don't they? That's why they have a 4 door isn't it? Some people like the longer wheelbase, some dont

A ZF 9 speed automatic, made in Indiana.

It is about time that America woke up to the fact that 3 or even 4 gears do not allow the engine to stay in the power band. Chryco is going this way for emission/CAFE reasons but still, it will be on the market.

You mean, like the 5 and 6 speed autos they've been using for a while now?

Not personally much for the styling, but,..

Roll cage, tiny tiny engine screaming along a 10Krpm fed by a turbo,.. independent long travel suspension,..

Tell me you wouldn't watch one of those things tearing up the gravel in WRC.

It is based on the Dart platform, which pretty much says it all.
I'm wondering why they need another car based car in the lineup. They already have the Patriot and the Compass, which are the same damn car (Compass has more luxury features, like Lexus vs Toyota) and now they add a Dart-based crossover while dropping the solid rear axle Liberty?
Why bother branding it as a Jeep? Sell it as something else...
That being said - if the KK Liberty was Called a Cherokee and had a Pentastar v6, I'd be interested in one. IFS is pretty nice if you aren't in the rocks.

Call it the Dart OR (off-road) and let Dodge keep it.....

Although the extra ground clearance and knobby tires pictured here are encouraging (and note the Michigan Off-Road Vehicle permit on the mule), hard-core Jeepers with an eye toward practicality should probably just move along to a four-door Wrangler with a hardtop.

The patriot and compass are being replaced by a fiat... Probably a rebadged panda. And if you watch top gear, you know it'll hold its own off road.

The Wrangler sells like crazy, yes, but if the whole lineup was solid axle wheelers, it wouldn't hold up. That's just the way it goes. Most people aren't looking to spend 20-40k on a new SUV just to go beat it up off-road. The few who do buy JKs or if they want to spend a little extra cash on making it wheelable, an FJ Cruiser or XTerra. The Cherokee became the Liberty for a reason.

I am not sure it worked out so well for them.

To be sure, the first-year low number is probably because the XJ was still available, and sales after 07-08 plummeted probably because of that whole global financial meltdown thing, but it doesn't look like they really improved things much.

Nope still screwed up, amazing how they sold over 100,000 cherokees every year, and the body stayed the same. Seems like they would have thought they were doing something right :screwy:

Remember that there was also much more competition in the Post 2001 SUV world than before.
