Ross's Jeep that will take longer than Rob's to build thread...

Re: Ross's lack of cat updates thread...

A weekend of labor.

Decided to cut out a bunch of sheetmetal and put real metal in its place. Got the entire PS rocker done, legs done (with holes drilled & tapped for skids), and both doors cut and clearanced. Every thru some primer and the doors back on just in time to seal the jeep back up before it rained.

Two things I would like to note here;
1. Welding sheetmetal sucks, espically that thin ass door skin material.
2. I'm really glad I traded my spare bottle of argon for another spare bottle of 75/25. I ran outta gas, but was able to just swap bottles and keep going.

Re: Ross's lack of cat updates thread...

Is it bad that I did this exact same thing weeks ago and its still not primed or painted? But I atleast wheeled mine bare. :D

i like it. your departure angle sucks though with the shackle relocation. i have the same issue and it sucks

So is this going to make Rocktoberfest? you got over a month GSD!

Where'd it go?!?!

There it is!!! Got the steering all built, picked up another pitman arm too. Got a WJ one, its longer to help increase the steering since the one before was too short. Also filed out the master splines on it so I can clock it however I want on the sector shaft (stock the WJ is clocked something ~30* off). Knocked off the frame side TB mount and pushed it forward ~3/4" for prenty of coil clearance and lowered it ever so sligthly to dail in matching angles with the draglink.

Pulled the coils and finalized everything in the front end. Figured out full droop, full stuff, and max flex either way. Checked all brackets and linkages for clearance/bind, check tire clearances too. Everything looked good, burned all the brackets home and added gussets and such. Tire clears the front inner fender by a C-hair, but I'm still gunna cut it outta the way. Rear of the inner fender took some shots with the sledge hammer to leave enough room.

Gunna gear and assemble the axles and get the suspension/axles all set, minus shocks. Ordered some Bilstein 7100's all the way around and waiting on them to show up for our own vendor Serious Offroad. Also used an Autozone gift card I had and got all the calipers/pads/rotors/hardware I need for the brakes. Gunna pick up a couple of different brake hoses, some lines, and probably a Ram 2500 master cylinder this week so I'll have it all ready. Gotta plumb the entire jeep some time soon. Gotta bang out the DS rocker stuff. Gunna wip up a second crossmember for the rear support for the Stak and as the rear support of the bellypan. Probably just gunna order a RuffStuff traction bar kit and throw that on there too.

I like when you do stuff to black jeep and update this thread. It gives me motivation to work on McJeep.

Please do something sooooon!

Fine shortstack!!!!

Built the second crossmember, the center span and the matching rear support bracket/bushing for the the Stak. Used a simple bushed DOM sleeve from RuffStuff and built a bracket the attaches to everything. I dont wanna trust 170lbs hanging off the back of the AW4. The bellypan skin will span the to crossmembers and I'll use the rear crossmember for the traction bar mount.

The 14b is out right now since I had to burn the UBE perches on. Got the axle, hubs and brakes all cleaned up and painted. Gunna stuff some gears in it and get it all assembled. Gotta get that thing under it. Gunna pull the 60 after and stuff gears, lockers and other junk in it.

Need to update your build name in the signature! :D In all seriousness, You're doing a great job!

that was a pretty good idea on the bushing support thing. does it just use an existing bolt in the back side of the Stak?

I havent had time to make something up yet. I got it all buttoned up took it out and my driver caliper locked up and caught fire. so yea. I have to make sure it will make it to PA first.

I vote that he ran out of gas / changed spools or something.. notice the inside of that bracket is good, then the outside goes all to ass

Boogers!!! That bracket was kinda funky to weld, I just stck the gun up there and winged it. The main brackets are nice and solid, the brace just looks like poop compared to it.
