I've seen worse, when the water mains on my street were replaced I took a sample of the sludge from the inside of the old pipe - 18" pipe had approximately 1.5" to 2" layer of a rather cool looking black, brown, red, bright orange, and grey banded sludge. It was all neat bumpy nodules and stuff on the inner surface. Slightly oily to the touch, smelled like diesel fuel, and stained my fingers like nothing else... Looked like an earth tone geode. Here is something for the tap water lovers. I like my tap water in my BPA rich Nalgene. Here is a link to what is on the inside of any cast iron water main (pre 60's). Some of the water lines in the distribution system I work on are MUCH worst then this. Tuberculars FTW

Don't worry this is post filtration and Chlorinated.
:dunno: I figure the fact that it came out of the water must mean the water got cleaner in the process... bottoms up!
