I was thinking March 6th - 9th. It will not be to hot at this time and the 10th is a full moon, which should help us in the middle of nowhere at night.

I would like to leave Friday and make my way to the Avi Casino to spend the night. They have a special that includes a room, 2 movie tickets and 2 breakfast buffet passes for $52. http://www.avicasino.com/index.html. I think this would be a good place we can all meet and start the trail from.

After a night of fun at the casino and a early breakfast buffet we can start on the the 3 day trip starting at the Avi Casino Saturday morning. I have a book that describes the trail in a 3 day trip starting from the casino.

The first day of the trip is approx 40 miles and 4 hours plus time for stops and sightseeing. This leg of the trip includes the remains of Ft. Piute and the Irwin Turkey Farm. There are also indian petroglyphs to find around the ruins.

The second day is 44 miles and 5 hours and includes a short hike to Rock Springs and the Bert Smith stone cabin, as well as Marl Springs and Government Holes, with views of the Kelso Dunes.

The third day is 40 miles and 5 hours of driving time. This leg will take us over Little Cowhole Mt and across the Soda dry lake and into the Razor OHV area which I am very familiar with and know the location of a large sand bowl, Indian petroglyphs and abandoned mining areas. Then we will continue on through Afton Canyon and out to the 15. There is a camping area at Afton Canyon where you can spend the night or head home from there.

So what do you think? The only area I am familiar with is Razor/Soda/Afton. The first two days will be new to me but the information I posted here is from the guide book I have.

This is the weekend of TDS... you are right... good time of year... it's good all the way to mid. Apr. maybe later if it doesn't pop hot...
