Alright everybody lets get this started. As you know we scheduled our annual event for April 22 - 24, with the 22nd (Friday) being the adopt-a-trail maintenance of 2N04 and the 23rd and 24th being trail runs. I'd like to see everybody show up for this as it's our big event.
As for the trail maintenance. The 22nd is Earth Day, we will get nothing but good publicity for doing our maintenance on that day as it is likely that there will be a lot of different groups focusing on the Big Bear area on that day. I'd like to get as many people as possible in on that maintenance as with the recent rains 2N04 has been hit pretty hard.
We need to start coming up with trails that everybody wants to run. I am assuming that there will be demand for Holcomb Creek / John Bull. Keep in mind that there may still be snow on the mountain in April, especially around John Bull's nasty section as it's in constant shadow. I have offered to lead Holcomb and Bull, I would like to have at least one other person experienced with these trails on the run with me as a tail gunner, I may need that person to take over leadership for the nasty part of John Bull, if there is too much snow my open/open rig may not make it up. I will escort any others that cannot or prefer not to take that section around the bypass to the other side.
There was talk of Gold Mountain and Pontiac Sluice, are there any other trails that people want to run?
If you would like to volunteer for trail leadership please contact me and let me know what trail you would like to lead.
We are going to need somebody to do a pre-run no more than two weeks before the event, I am not sure if I will be able to join in on the pre-run as I've been pummeled with work lately. If you would like to volunteer for this please PM me.
Camping: I am in progress of working on getting us the Juniper Springs group camp area (Just east of 2N01, on the East side of Big Bear) as part of our AAT maintenance. Because of that I will need to know how many people are planning on coming out and planning on using the facilities.
Food: I would like to see a burger / hot dog cook off type dinner. Price will be determined later, but don't worry it will not break the bank. Does anybody have a good sized barbecue they can bring out?
For safety requirements please see this post: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49199
Safety requirements are mandatory, please make sure you have all equipment on the list as we would hate to turn you away. If you have any questions regarding the list please feel free to ask.
Please vote in the poll if you're coming.
See you all there.
