But not sure what its official name is. Its the one between the A/C compressor and the tstat housing.

That's the idler pulley. There seem to be minor differences in them over the years but I believe they all interchange. I used the one off my 87 on my 95 & it worked fine.

Broke as is destroyed, or just the bearing gave up? The whole idler pulley itself is relatively inexpensive at the local auto store. If its just the bearing, it's a very common cheap bearing if you don't mind pressing a new one in.

RockAuto.com shows it as ACDELCO Part # 38042 for $16, btw.
