Front end clunk

Hey guys, I ahve an 88 XJ and whenever the steering wheel turns the front end make a loud pop. Anybody got any idea of what this could be? I replaced the wheel joints about 3 months ago and that never solved the problem. Could it be something with the trac bars. I can get it to make the sound even with the front end off the ground but I cant seem to find the trouble. Any ideas, I need some help.

It is your trackbar or one of your tierod ends. Have someone turn the wheel left ot right while your infront of your Jeep looking at everything.

Trac bar, control arm bushings, TRE's, Sway bar bushing/links...

All of these can cause the mystery clunk. Mine clunks too....

If it makes the noise with the wheels off the ground it is probably your gear box.

Are you talking about the power steering gear box??

Have one person turn the wheel and another searching for the noise. Last time I did that I noticed my steering shaft was broken near the gear box.
