Hello everyone!

I feel sure I have a wheel bearing roar on a 1999 XJ. I`m pretty sure it is the left side, but the right wheel seems to be noticeably hotter after a run. Could a failing wheel bearing transfer that much heat, or could it just be brake heat.

The sound is hard to pin down, but a couple other people drove it and they think it is from the left.

Thanks for your thoughts.

If you have center caps on your wheels, pull them off then go drive it around. Take your finger, and touch the stub shaft. (little thing in the very center of the wheel with the cotter pin going through it). If you touch it and burn the $**t out of your finger, that is the wheel bearing that has failed.
