so the guy next door replaced his rims and tires off his f150. w/ the same pattern so.. I picked up his 35x12.5x16.5's for $100.00... I figured the tires have 5-10k on 'em and if not I can use the rims.. .. So I've search the shit outa this forum..and still not too sure if I want to go with the 4.5, 5.5 or the 6.5 kits.. I'll replace the tires shortly after the kit install with 33's.. I might straight up down grade to 33's.. I'm not going to be wheeling it too much... "I want a stock Jeep for daily driving, it won't be a wheeling Jeep but will probably see some occasional light trails" i'm looking at these kits.. (ebay's a starting point)

my leafs are shot.. and I've got a 97' Xj 4.0 auto, D30/ 8.25 setup..

basically my question is.. keeping the lowest COG in mind kit =???. and after the kit install what extra shit do I need... would the D30/8.25 work with just new gears? remember light wheeling mostly just pretty boyin it around town... upgrade pwr steering, alt, &? any links for kits/ parts? thanks..

im runnin a 6 inch lift on 33s and i can still rub them, however i havent cut my fenders at all so 35s are not going to fit really on a 4.5 inch lift without a shit load of trimming but if you just get rid of them and get 33s a good 4.5 5.5 inch lift would be good. if i were you id save up and get a re lift if i had to do it over again i would. The 30/8.25 should be fine....and i dont have gears yet eiether and it aint all that bad really. You dont need to upgrade your power steering.

as far as the kits you have listed the 5.5 would be your best best since your gonna run 33s and im sure you dont really wanna have ta trim your fenders also so the 5.5 would be best and u dont need the long arm kit if its just light wheelin

do you have to give people crap about searching?

Yes we do, and if you're here long enough you'll know why. You are in an odd situation here. You will be stepping down in tire size here. I would say a 5.5" kit. But for 35's to work, you'll have to trim. But then you're gonna put 33s back on and it'll look goofy with all of that space. If you don't go wheeling with the 35's and 5.5"; you could probably get away with no trimming just driving it on the street. As far as the axles go, you have the Hp 30 and the 29 spline 8.25. Those will be fine for just 33s.

I was running 35x12.5's on 4.5 inches of lift. I added a one inch spacer so I could run a longer travel shock. The 35's on 4.5 inches of lift worked great, but you will have to trim alot to prevent rubbing. Also having the right wheels, lift setup, and maybe some bumpstops will help.

BTW...when did a F150 have the same bolt pattern as a cherokee? Better double check the bolt pattern BEFORE you make too many plans.

thanks for the reply. that's what i was wanting to hear.. so the 5.5's good for 33's.. i've seen a few diff setups with all kinds of shit.. and you think that the RE kit's are well made for the money or should I be looking at something better?

also, the 5.5 RE kit doesn't come with shocks.. dual or mono? 4.5-5.5 or the 5.5-7.5 range? looks like I'm going to get a reversed gear set for the front D30 flip it over.. and a matching set for the rear..

anybody in texas wana swap me tires or tires& rims.. for a set of 33's.. prefer __x10 rims.. thx
