A gracious good day to you!

A funny thing happened on the way to pulling my harmonic balancer...

I put it up on the lift and attached a wheel puller..ok so far.

Next I put a wrench on the puller and started turning it.

POOF...the harmonic balancer casting broke leaving the sleve on the crank, and enough of the flange that one cannot get the timing chain cover off over it.

OH JOY!! :confused1

Any suggestions? I know the HB is cast and the crank is steel. Any way to heat it up?

Thanks for your suggestions.

If you take the fornt bumper off, you can see the end of the shaft pretty good. Might be able to grind down one side of whats left of the hub/sleeve, when you get close, give it a wack on the ground down side, with a cold chisel and BFH, once you get a crack in it, should come off much easier.

YIPEE!!!! I got the sleve off the crank! :laugh2:

Thanks for the ideas! Just fer future reference here's what I did:

1. Ground down the edges of the flange so it would fit through the oil seal in the timing cover.

2. Removed the timing cover to expose the rest of the sleve.

3. Beat the S#!t out of it with a sharo chisel and a BFH...till it split.

Twern't as bad as I thought...I was thinkin' that I'd need a torch :flame: or a plasma cutter or sumpthin' equally evil :skull1: .

Thanks again fer the ideas.
