The light works?

I am curently in Iraq and my wife has told me that my 4wd has stoped working.She says the 4wd indicator light comes on but the front tires dont spin. Could this be the Vacume actuator on the axle? Does anyone have any other ideas of what the problem could be? 1990 d 30 d 35 4.0L 4 door

Light works

Could be,need to start at the actuator and back trace all the vac lines.There is a blue one over by the ac/blower mtr,that controls the light.
There is a vac harness coming off the x fer case w/3 or 4 lines ,can't remember.Any vacum leak affects the whole system,so ALL the vacum lines need to be checked from the canister,all the way to the firewall.

Just a side note,and you can pass this around!
