Will a 94 4.0 work in a 90 XJ

Will there be anything that i'll need to change out to put this in my 90 XJ.

In 91 Jeep changed to the HO 4.0. You would need to get the computer and sensors from the 94 engine as well. Swap in the whole thing. It can be done, just a little more work than a direct swap from a 87-90.

Or pull the intake and sensors off your old motor and apply them to the new motor, check your old intake gasket against the ho intake gasket and make sure it'll flow good, you may have to trim abit. I have a 92 motor in my 87. Works good but always seems to lack the zing that my wifes 88 non ho had, although my gearing is a tad off...hmmm...thats the cheap way, I wouldnt mind having the ho power though.
