Hot off the presses!

Our trail is blocked by a rockslide!

Sunday february 6 we will make a recon and if possible move enough rocks to reopen our trail.

More details to follow.

Getting involved is easy.

Go to meeting and go to trail maintenance. Watch the SBNF AAT Yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SBNF_AAT/) and go to other club's open invite maintenance days (i.e. the upcoming Holcomb project).

You got it easy man, you don't live two hours from the mountain.

I would like to attend but my jeep is down, would there be any issue with using my truck? (Full size dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4) I've been on the trail before and I don't remember anything that would be a issue for the truck.

Bring it out, might even come in handy.

The only hitch is you might have to back out at some point depending on the blockage but we can spot you out (hell *we* might have to back out!)

PS - Fix your Jeep by May so I can scrounge more air off you.

Cool, Backing out isn't a problem I done that many times.

Jeep is waiting on tax refund for tires, shocks, and locker replacement. So I hope to have it running again at the end of February.

I'm thinking of splitting the group in two and coming in from both sides of the slide to have anchors for winching.

If you have recovery gear, snatch blocks, d-rings, tree straps, etc. bring it.

Thank you to Greg and Kelly Hoffman for getting the pictures for us.

Agreed.

If I can figure out how to secure my rock bar in the Jeep I'll bring it, not sure though since I won't have the M416 and I don't want that lethal thing bouncing around in there. Other than that I have one winch, some strap, a tree saver, and a snatch block.

So, I need to pack:

Cordless drill
Masonry Bits
Explosives
and Running Shoes?

Seriously Though, Do we just "roll" the slide farther downhill and off the trail, ro do we have to bust up the rock and haul it out?

Is anyone going up sat? I am on the fence about going, I have a jv run on sat but not sure if I would want to pay for A room or just camp the night.

I'm going up Saturday for a mountain day with Sebastian. We don't have lodging figured out yet but may have an option, otherwise I'm hoteling it.

I won't be camping this time around. There really isn't enough slack time to make it worth it with Sebastian.

I have lots of D-Rings, heavy duty snatch blocks, Recovery Chains, and Straps, so I will bring all of that and bonus if there is one thing my truck is good for its being an anchor...

Don't sell your truck short man.

It's also good as a vessel to contain all those D Rings, chains, and snatch blocks.

Yes, I said his truck is great at hauling snatch blocks, what of it?

Oh, don't get me wrong it also holds ice chests and other implaments of destruction, and I've taken it places I probably shouldn't have before (odessa canyon is a bitch in a full size), but I would rather have my jeep, its funner and the roll cage lets me do dumber things than normal.

Plus it would give me a chance to test out my new camera...

Any reason super bowl sunday was picked as the AAT day?

Also, aside from winching the rocks currently blocking the trail, is there a cohesive plan for what needs to be done?

Primary focus of this run is to clear the rockslide and to assess what needs to be done during the rest of the year.

Tom, I'm planning on going up. I was thinking it was on Saturday and my daughter was going to come up with me, but I don't think she can on Sunday, as that's her volunteer day (1st Sun of the month) at church.

So as long as she's not coming up, I have a seat open & you're welcome to run up with me. Do you still have my phone #?

If anyone wants Girl Scout Cookies, (no, my 16yo Girl Scout is NOT included!!), they're $4/box, and if you text me between now and oh, 10am or so I can bring them up with me... You pay for 'em, you get 'em on the spot! Here's what they're offering in San Diego County--some varieties are different in each county, apparently. http://www.sdgirlscouts.org/cookies/

And it's okay if you text me at some a$$hole hour; my phone's always on, beside my bed, and I always look at texts, and if it's not someone in trouble, I fall right back asleep.
