xj hack and tap question

I did mine and it was fine. Parking brake, chock wheels, and put it in drive (engine running). Grinder with cutoff wheel will do the hack real clean as the spinning shaft gives it a lathe effect rather than hacking through the output.

The front ds you're using is out of a slushbox XJ, right? I've heard manual transmission XJs have different driveshafts... might just be the rear. I dunno.

the lengths are different on auto vs manual. and a front shaft from either won't work as a rear shaft in a manual due to the length.

I was looking in to the H&T but have a 231 with C8.25 and the AX15, is there a JY shaft I can use for the rear or do I have to do a custom built one since a front one wont work?

grand cherokees have longer wheelbases maby measure one next time your at the junk yard, or have your local driveshaft shop lengthen the xj front driveshaft to match your needs

Try looking here for some longer Jeep front drive shafts, -> http://www2.dana.com/pdf/J321-CV.PDF - and also look at Explorer drive shafts.

Any drive line shop can lengthen or shorten a drive shaft. The cost is about $75-125 around here.
