WTB 235/75R15 tires or tires&wheels

The tires on my '97 are getting too worn for my tastes -- they're perfectly legal as they are about 4/32" (legally worn out at 2/32"), but they don't have much grip in sand and stuff.

I can either buy 4 new tires for $700 out-the-door, or maybe find some really good used ones that somebody has taken off because they want bigger.

I need a set of 4 matching tires, no larger than 30x9.5 15, preferably 235/75R15. Tread depth of at least 3/8" and all tires exhibit even wear.

If you want to sell but keep the rims, would you like my Ecco rims as partial trade? That way we don't have to pay to have the tires dismounted then mounted and balanced.

Thank you for the pointer. Looking at that ad made me realize that I should also state that I am not willing to travel south of Torrance -- I live quite a bit north of LA and the travel costs to areas south of Torrance eat too much of the savings.

PS -- for a brief while last evening I was in the middle of a dogpile on a set of tires in Encino, but I wasn't first and the first person liked what he saw and got them. And Encino is so much closer.

The first ad is by a place in Long Beach that has a reputation of bait and switch, or breaking enough other things to make sure you spend enough money to make up for the "deal".

The second, in Rancho Cucamonga, is just too far.

Have you tried any of your local used/mexican tire shops? They usually have tires for cheap.
