What year Wrangler and what year XJ? The 97 up TJ Wrangler uses standard low pinion D30 gears and all XJ's up to mid 1999 used a hi pinion D30 so the gears will not interchange unless you have a late 99' or 2000 XJ with the TJ LP D30 front end.
The YJ Wrangler had a hi pinion 30 and the gears will work with a hi pinion XJ D30.
The rear 35 gears would work (assuming you have a D35 as well) but it's probably easier to just chop off the TJ brackets, weld on spring perches, and replace your existing 35 with the one out of the TJ.
The gears for the 30 will not interchange, although you could just swap in the whole TJ front end. Bolt in deal, but you are giving up your hi pinion front end.
The shafts will slide right in (unless you have ABS and the TJ did not) but you are not gaining anything unless they are aftermarket alloy shafts. Your 96 D30 should already have the larger 297 size ujoints that the TJ's have. The XJ's got the larger ujoint starting in mid 1995.
well at least i got some good spare parts for the front. did i pay to much 175 for both the d35 had a broken shaft (suprise right) and the front had all the steering rods(stock)
