What's wrong with this picture-winter edition

Maybe they should have run a picture of a TPT white woman/man holding up their bills and see if this thread would even have been started. I have seen stories on TV of (white) families that used to have plenty and now have none. Father/mother sick/unemployed or whatever. Why should people get rid of all their nice stuff when times are hard? Why can't the kids keep some of their toys? Why should some people not get assistance? Which one of you can say for sure that that family hasn't already sold half their stuff? I have been paying unemployment insurance & taxes since 1 month after I set foot in this country 27 years ago & I have got nothing back from it except when I got laid off once. Why can't people get back what they put in? If any of you should fall on hard times, my money will be paying for your bills too.

I am not a racist person, my parents raised me better than that. There's plenty of fat hillbillies in my town that abuse the system just like this woman. I see someone in the convenience store at least once a week buy 10 dollars worth of soda/chips/candy on their EBT card, and then pull out a 20 and buy smokes and lottery tickets. It's not about color, it's about being a lazy piece of shit that abuses the system for they're own benefit.

And don't even get me started on people that are selling EBT benefits for 50 cents on the dollar so they can have real cash, and yes, that happens a lot more frequently than you think, constantly as a matter of fact.

As to getting something back from what you paid in, in the vast majority of the abuse they've never paid in. I know of at least three families in my hometown of 2500 people that live 3 generations in a house, all of them collecting food stamps, welfare and/or SSI. I knew someone that was 18 years old collecting SSI because he had ADHD, he was a fit and able bodied 18 year old. He could have found a job.

Practice tolerance?
You point out somehow people are racist because they use terms like Blingy, escalade, navigator?
Seems you are pretty thin skinned my preachy friend.
Before you run around crying because everyone is a racist, maybe you need to stop and think. Whom in this country deserves to collect at the government trough? It's not the government's money.
I do not give a shit what color you are. If you have the unmitigated gall to whine about how you deserve anything for free, maybe you should think about what is important. IF you can't pay your bills, but don't want to loose your nice tv, cuddle up with it and freeze. Don't tell me how you deserve to be coddled.
I too have been unemployed, from 80k a year with a newborn to 20k in one year. I sold three harleys, and oh, yes, a "big screen tv". So, Preacher, preach on.
Tolerance, is a word used by people whom have no argument, just tender feelings, and love. You can't eat tender feelings, nor can you heat your home with them. Some will deal in reality, others in feelings. This country, and several others are going broke, because of individuals such as yourself. Give everyone what they cry for, and see where you end up. You, me, all the workers in the world will never be able to create enough wealth to support the people whom, tricked by governments into believing they somehow have the right to others wealth, will stand out for a hand out.
Pick a fight , we're in one, for the success or failure of our country. Let the hatefulness go. Keep using the key words, hate, tolerance, love. People are finally waking up to the use of these terms, the more you use them, the better.

i agree about the obvious stuff, poor people living beyond their means and all.... i did a job in a mall right next to a walmart during the worst of the reccession, and we saw people leaving with smaller flat panels practically all day long...
i have an $80 tv i bought off the socal chapter forum, and hardly ever watch it. i do however have $700 shocks, and thousands worth of tools, so i cant really talk too much shit, we all indulge.

BUT places like rent-a-center, or payday loan agents arent good people, they prey off povererty and ignorance. it's one thing to say poor people shouldnt fall for it, they shouldnt... but we as a country, shouldnt allow this shit. i beleive we have maximum interest rates for legit loans, why do lower class loaners get away with charging 400%?
i know i know, it's their fault right? but this is america, we should be better then that.

This country was built on taking advantage of people. PT Barnum once said.....

Ever wonder why those places charge 400%, it's because half the time they never get the money. risk vs reward, the people using payday advance places can't get a loan because they're too high a risk. EVer wonder why rent a center charges that much? Be cause I know two people that rented a TV and never paid for it

If you'll recall just recently we had a bit of a collapse because loans were too easy to get. Who mandated the lowering of the standards? The government, through Fannie and Freddie.

Good intentions do not work in a free market capitalist society, and the government should have nothing to do with the free market. Their hands are in too many cookie jars as it is.

Personally I have a very easy solution to the abuse of the welfare system, but I've been told that it is unfair because it would be shameful to those on assistance. Shame was once a very effective public tool to get people to change their behavior, remove the shame and the stigma attached to public assistance and you've removed the incentive to ever do better for yourself and your family.

BRAVO! Could not have said it better myself! :patriot:

valid points, all.

Wow, this is actually a prety good read if you look back at it all. I have busted my ass for the past few years because when i was working at Taco Bell I went for assistance at the local welfare office to maybe get me some food stamps, They were gonna give me $10 a month, yeah XXXXing $10. What am I supposed to do with that? At that point i went to the local employment agency, and said get me on at Cummins. Almost 4 years later I'm still here and am grateful for EVERYTHING I have. Now, don't get me wrong I like helping people out but I get so sick and tired of people living entirely above thier means, then asking for handouts "because they deserve it", and my money going to them. I call :bs:! I love this country but people need to realize that hard work and sacrifice are two things that are VERY important!

I'm not sure I understand... You went for assistance and they turned you away. Had they not turned you away and said here's $200 a month how would have things turned out? Would you have just taken the $200 and kept getting it or what? You then went to another place and told them to get you a job? You basically went to two places asking for something. You couldn't apply for the job on your own? You can't just submit a resume or go to an interview to get a job without demanding someone else to get the job for you? You couldn't have gotten a second job while working at taco bell to make ends meet so you wouldn't need food stamps?

Not saying your aren't working hard supporting yourself but the only reason you didn't get food stamps is because they denied you. I fail to see how that makes anyone better in this case? The woman in the OP is in the same boat as you, she went to get assistance and was declined the same as you. You both attempted to get a handout and were declined because you had a job or money to support yourself. Maybe in a few years she will be saying the exact same thing you are today.

I promise guys, last post from me on this topic. I have stated my views on the topic as plainly as possible.
As for the predatory lending practices of some retailers, and also to address the government handouts. I'll run the racist and class warfare gamut.
What makes a slave, some would say, an individual, possessed by another. It's a simple definition, maybe a bit too simple.
Is waiting with baited breath for the next government handout being a slave? You are controlled by someone, or something, you must vote to keep in office those that would oppress you by means of "handouts", money taken (stolen) from those that work, and given to you, for your vote.
Is owing a company more money than a product is worth slavery? A cadillac, t.v. or anything else you have been duped into thinking you "deserve". I think, yes. You are beholden to a group, they can come repo what you think is "yours", you can't afford it, you are a slave.
We as a species have been duped, by the political elite, the Hollywood elite, hell, even our own friends and family at times have been complicit in our demise.
I do not need a t.v., nor do I need cable, a fancy car, or a Mcmansion. I see now where the lust for "stuff" gets me. I become a slave. Until we as a species stop having these "rights" to the fancy junk, we will continue to be slaves.
I do not advocate living in a hole in the ground. I advocate living within your means. I try my damnedest every day to remember that.
Either we as a species start acting like adults of that species, i.e. living within our financial means, or we will continue to be slaves. A nice car makes you no less worthy of praise than a hoopty, nor does a nice tv, and so on.
I love each and every one of you, even those that make me want to run around in circles screaming. Merry Christmas, and happy holidays!:rattle:

I went to an employment agency who at the time mainly dealt with Cummins, filled out an application, passed the testing phase and got to work. I was just saying" hey get me a job" to cut out all the shit. Yeah I asked for a handout, so what. Everyone needs help from time to time. They didn't deny me, I was insulted and walked out. I really hope that lady is saying what I am now. I don't claim to better than anyone else I just realized that you can't rely on handouts from the government. I have Muscular Dystrophy and I also thought about disability at the time. I was a slacker, I will admit it. I quickly realized that I wouldn't really make enough to support myself and get the things I wanted. Now I make too much to be eligible for benefits. You're getting awful tore up about this. :dunno: I also did not have a 55" TV in my living room!

Maybe I'm being thin-skinned, but after this election season and every LibTard and Lamestream Media talking head calling anyone that disagrees with the Progressive SOCIALIST view of things a NAZI/REDNECK/IGNORANT/RACIST--well, lets just say I'm in favor of legalizing DUELING.

I'm only a recreational redneck :anon:

As for the other 3 terms you listed, anyone who calls me those is going to have some explaining to do.

Who wants to pick a fight just before Chrissmus? Not me. I'm not one to play "that card" because as an immigrant, I have more to show for my hard work for about half my lifetime than many Americans my age (blk/wht) who have been here all their life. I have more in common with you guys than those that "look like me" - so to speak. And I'm very familiar with the pimp-mobiles in the hood ... & all that goes along with it.
I wasn't trying to come off the way I was understood, and my apologies to any reasonable people who can see my point. However, let's talk INNUENDO, guys. The 2 statements below are full of it, & that's what set me off (not to mention the pic), because there is so much of it here & many of the forums I frequent.

Jeeping, offroading - there are not many of "me" in this world, and I take a lot of crap from people I share a certain passion with. I swallow/ignore/forgive a lot, both from certain threads, strangers on the trails, club members etc. I see the political threads (headlines) & I usually avoid them. Don't y'all try to dodge the issue - the hate, racism & nastiness is here every day. But times are hard for us all & ALL we need to not be so judgemental.
If I lost my job again, dammit, I ain't giving up my most expensive 4-wheeled toy until I start eating the parts. Let that woman keep her TV & the kids toys ... prolly keep them off the streets.

And y'all practice some tolerance if only for this one week - let the hatefulness go ... it's Chrissmus.
I think you're more racist for saying that Navigators and Escalades must refer to blacks. Why can't a white guy be driving one?

:D

Hm. Something to that...

Granted, I've been saying for years that making assault & battery illegal as a blanket policy is doing society a disservice - I'll guarandamntee that I'm not the only one here who thinks there are people who just need to be whacked upside the head once in a while. If you can properly justify it to the judge as a "learning instrument," you should get a walk.

I was sure Ken was a full time rednek :laugh3:.
:roflmao:

I suppose the fact that you met me when I was covered in grease and crawling out from under a jeep at a junkyard wouldn't have had anything to do with that... nor my behavior at NACFest... :anon:

speaking of which, you planning on going this year? I'm hoping I have time to attend.

Thank you wood for keeping the home warm all winter. It's nice only having to spend a few bucks on chain saw gas/oil combined with some elbow grease to rid the gas bill.
