WarGin Returns!

Get one for $5-10 at sams pull a part in worcester. Any 96 and earlier should fit iirc.

Finally got a fuel pressure regulator to try and fix rough idling issues... And I think it may have done the trick!

Air cleaners getting dirty, and seeing that it rubs the hood, I'm gonna try to locate a shorter air cleaner locally. Which may be difficult because last time I needed an air cleaner I ended up just cleaning the original because no one local knew what I was talking about when I asked for a weber filter . Yay custom shit.
Tryin to get as much possible done over the coming weeks. It's almost wheeling season!

Found a filter that fits the carb, and consequently have finally been able to properly tune it.
Found that the vacuum advance port gives manifold vacuum and not ported, so I'm going to have to swap the barb from the vacuum advance port to the EGR port. It's running amazingly good for only using mechanical advance at the moment. Should run much better once I hook it back up. It explains why I could never get the car to run right, the timing was constantly fully advanced.

Also, FINALLY fixed the switch block on the drivers door, the clips holding the block to the door panel desintegrated over a year ago and the switches were MIA. Ghetto rigged it to hold in place with some wire. Works like a champ.

Witnessed the hercules tires in action at Winterfest. They do pretty well offroad for the price.

Love the seats, just hope you never get rear ended.

So it's been awhile. The water pump grenaded (literally 'boom') and then sat since early September.

Lack of funds and other priorities (namely getting my new DD cherokee on the road and registered) got in the way.
But, needless to say in the past week I've probably had more fun with this thing then in the 2 years prior.

Decided that this should be a trail only rig, seeing that I have another cherokee that can actually go on the highway.

So I welded up my D35

Kingkong helped me weld it up, as I am a self professed noob, with whatever wire was in the welder in his shop, but the penetration seems to have been sufficient.
If it ends up breaking, which I have no doubt it will, I'll find something else to put behind it. Not like I'll break down far from my garage.

Gotta say, didn't think the change would be that drastic. Off-road ability has improved 10 fold but now officially undrivable on the street. I don't think the angry squirrels under the hood like turning everything at once haha.

Still trailblazing so nothing pic worthy in the woods. Yet.

Also, finally swapped front driveshafts, switching from a stick in a can style to double cardan. Forgot to take pics of course, but I'll do a write up for anyone else tomorrow or something.

Disclaimer: Much rum and coke was involved.
So messing around in my backyard I managed to put a sizable dent in my fuel tank and wedged a stick or something into my fuel lines which caused a leak. So I decided to relocate my fuel tank. To the trunk. With ratchet straps.

Pulled the trim off and it wasn't looking good to start .

Cut the carpet out of the trunk and it was waaaaay worse.

So I decided to cover all that cancer with a bandaid of primer. I figured I'll be cutting the floor out this summer anyways so why hack it now and left it .
The underneath at least didn't look nearly as bad .

The buddy that helped me out decided he likes fire truck red gas tanks. Still haven't gotten around to re painting it hasta

Absolutely no leaks in the compartment, but still have a drip from the return line that's a little rusty. I'll take care of it when I replace my rear driveshaft ujoints, which are on their way out but not yet gone.

Anyone think it would be a bad idea to replace my hard fuel lines with soft all the way to the engine compartment? Possibly run through harness conduit to protect it?
Or should I just get a roll of copper or something and replumb?

Snows getting too deep to mess around :(

Spent all day gutting the interior. I knew the cancer was bad around the front leaf mounts but I wanted to be somewhat thorough and get eerything at once. Wheeling season is upon us and I want to blaze trails at my house.

Everything was pretty straightforward until I got to the front seats. The studs/nuts or whatever were completely unrecongnizable and had to be ground out. In the process the drivers seat mount got hopelessly mangled.

Then I pulled the trim and pulled up the carpet. Started on the pass side.
Which didn't look bad! The carpet weighed a ton, was soaked and reeked to high heaven. But not too bad rust wise. Where I started...

And then I pulled up the drivers side. And was stunned. The floor felt pretty solid for years, and didn't look horrible from underneath, just a hole under the clutch.
But more metal came up with the carpet then what was left on the body...

Also, holy seam sealer. There are 1/2 gaps in the trans tunnel filled by the factory.
Guess the wire wheel shall be broken out tomorrow and I'll have to source a little more sheet metal then I thought...

All things considered for a 1984 vehicle it's not bad at all.
Recently acquired a pair of heated leather, mechanical seats from a PT cruiser, so once the floor is patched and solid I'll have to see what can be done to accommodate them.

Also thinking of a quick spreader bar between C pillars, I heard a lot of urethane creaking and door flex from the rear last time I was out playing in the snow.

Attacked some cancer today!
My shop vac is MIA, so I can't clean up all the crap till I borrow someone's.

Then the rust on the doors and quarters pissed me off so I ground them down and threw some rustoleum on it till I get filler. Then I decided to just paint the body line down black, screw the filler, this is a trail rig!
The gloss actually looks good, even applied in the wind in colder then recommended temps.

That's as far as I got today.

Progress made, despite more then inclement weather. I hate snow now.

1/4 inch plate to beef the spring hanger and unibody.
The crossmember will be bent back and welded to plate, and I'll probably throw a gusset or 2 in to boot.

So got a lot of the floor and those plates welded in.
Total newb at welding and slowly self teaching, but it's pretty hard running a cheap machine with flux core and getting decent beads, especially on sheet metal! Blowing fewer and fewer holes but the welds still look like crap.

The floor is 1/8x3/4 angle ribbing with 20ga over it. The 20 was too thin by itself so I just did 8x12" sections. Probably not the best way to do it but whatever, it holds over 300lbs without any sign of movement. We'll see what happens the first time I flex out though...

Hopefully will be done and have the drivers seat from an 01 PT cruiser bolted in tomorrow. Modified the brackets and trans tunnel to mount up the front brackets, but the rear mounting points in the PT was a crossmember so I will have to fab something up.

So stoked for wheelin season, it's almost upon us! Walked a ~ mile long loop in woods a few days ago and I'm pretty confident it can be easily blazed in a good afternoon of hustling . If the friggin snow would hurry up and melt. And stop being added to.
