Now, that's an on going debate on the Toyota boards. They both have the same diameter and spline count shafts but, I'll take the D44's 8.5" ring gear over the Toyota's 8". Also, I have friends who have broken the Toyota stamped steel housings before. In the Toyota's defense though, the '86 and up axles do have huge brakes. Now, if you can find an "S Runner" rearend you'd really score....they're the 8.4" ring gear with 5X4.5 bolt pattern but, they're kinda of hard to find and sort of pricey----------Hans
