Tires and wheels stolen... what should I replace them with?

Except a 255-70-17 is not a 32 inch tire. It's a 31-10-17 equivalent.

So you not only went down two sizes in tire but up two sizes in wheel.

Not really a fair comparison.

My appologies, 255/75R17:
I think that is a fair comparison. .6 inches equals just a little more than a quarter inch difference in tire radius and therefore sidewall comparison is within reason.

From BFGoodrich website says 32.1" on a 7" wide wheel.

Goodyear Duratrac 33x12.50x15 = 32.8 on a 8.5" wheel.

I stand by my suggestion, 35 or bigger get 17" wheels, 33 or smaller get 15" or perhaps 16" wheels.

What tires will perform well in rain? My XJ on BFG A/Ts is sliding every brake application and I need a set of tires before Fall Fling.

How big are your current tires? I've been running 235/75R15 Wrangler Silentarmors on my Non-ABS '98 for years now (actually on my second set) and they have been a good daily driver type tire for here in Chicagoland. Only time I really use Full Time 4wd is when it's snowing fairly heavily or icy.
