Today we pay respect to those who have died while serving in the Military atriot: .
A lot of folks take the day to also remember loved ones who have passed on.

If your not into either of those activities, have a picnic and kick back. Tomorrow is the second Monday of the week

No one in this thread has bashed anybody.

Pointing out that this day is Memorial Day, a day we especially honor our war dead is not bashing, or showing disrespect, it is being honest to the day and what it stands for.

To quote Abraham Lincoln.

...We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. To me, that encompasses the meaning of Memorial Day.
