Testing Evaporator?

I tested my evaporator using a hand operated vacuum pump to check for leaks.

Pumped it down to 20 inHg and let it set for 12 hours and it didn't leak down. FSM says to evacuate the system at 26 inHg.

Is this method adequate to determine the integrity of the evaporator? I realize it may be on its way out after 14 years in service but for now I'm just interested in the process.

I think that is a pretty good way to isolate the evap core and check for leaks. The 26" mark is mostly for evacuating the entire system before a recharge.
