Speedometer stopped working after replacing exhaust manifold

My Speedometer stopped working after replacing the exhaust manifold. Could this be related to the electrical connectors or vacuum lines I had to disconnect while removing the manifolds? Or, is it just a coincidence?

After doing some research, I replaced the vehicle speed sensor. Still not working.

97 XJ 4.0 415K miles

It randomly worked two times afterwards. The last time it was all over the place.

Doesn't seem related, but I'd start by inspecting the wiring underneath going to the speedo sensor in the xfer case.

Thanks! I hate checking wires, but you were right. I traced the wiring into the engine bay and discovered that the end of the fuel rail had cut into a bundle of wires and was shorting out one of the speed sensor wires. It's working now.
