on my 98, i took the battery out for a couple days. put it back in and the radio had still saved all the presets and everything, so obviously there's a backup battery in there somewhere.

Well like I said that clock MAY have a backup time saving battery in it. I'm not real sure but I believe so.

Sounds like you did what I have always done to reset mine. My clock has never worked So that has never been an indicator for me.
