We all know how much of a PITA it is to change a faulty cps on these jeeps.I have seen a few makes that have the cps on the crankshaft pulley on the front of the motor(can't remember if it's ford or chevy)but it would be so nice to figure out a way to do this to the 4.0 seeing as how they are a common gremlin on these rigs.
One thing would be finding a way to machine the trigger notches onto the crank pulley(or find a suitable replacement)....another thing would be the rpm that the smaller(compared to the flywheel)crank pulley would be turning, and also the spacing of the cps trigger windows.
Mounting the cps to the front of the motor and finding the right air gap would be the easy part.
I can imagine the logistics of it but don't know enough about engine computers to draw any concrete conlusions. Most likely the computer would have to be re-programed to accept the faster rpm of the crank pulley? Is that even possible?
